Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship is a national-level scholarship for female students belonging to minority communities. The scholarship was formerly known as the Maulana Azad Scholarship. It was started to financially support the meritorious girl students. A scholarship amount of up to ₹ 6,000 will be disbursed to students of classes 9th to 12th. Almost 5,89,838 students have benefitted under the Maulana Azad Scholarship till now. The scholarship is funded by the Government of India and implemented by Maulana Azad Education Foundation.

Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship Eligibility

The scholarship is meant only for girl students. Here are the detailed eligibility conditions:

  • Applicants must belong to minority communities viz. Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, and Parsi.
  • Those studying in class 9th to 12th are eligible.
  • Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent in the previous class.
  • Annual family income (from all sources) must not be more than ₹ 2 lakh.

Candidates can submit their applications through the official website of Maulana Azad Education Foundation. Here are the steps to fill the application form.

Documents Required

Candidates must keep the following documents ready before filling the application form. All the documents must be in JPG, PNG, or PDF format and the document size must not exceed 200 KB. Here are the required documents:

  • Recent passport size photograph
  • Applicant’s Aadhaar card (if Aadhaar card is not available, submit a birth certificate, Rashan card, or BPL card)
  • School verification form attested by the Principal
  • Mark sheet of the last exam passed attested by the Principal
  • Parents/ Guardians’ income certificate issued by a competent authority
  • Self-declaration of minority community certificate
  • Self-certified copy of the first page of the bank passbook

Steps for filling the Application Form

  • Visit the official website at bhmnsmaef.org/maefwebsite.
  • Click on the ‘New Registration’ link.
  • Fill the application form with details such as parents’ names, address, domicile, school details, mobile number, and other details. Submit the form.
  • After successful form submission, a link will be given to download the school verification form. Applicants need to get the form verified by their school principal and upload the same.
  • Now, log in using the registered mobile number and date of birth.
  • Provide the complete information regarding bank details, marks details, parents’ occupation, and income details.
  • Upload the required documents and submit the application form.

Selection Process for Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship

The selection of the applicant will be done based on the candidate’s performance in the last exam and annual family income.
