BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) is one of the most reputed private engineering colleges in India. Every year, BITS Pilani conducts BITSAT entrance examination for enrolling students in its B.Tech, B.Pharma, and M.Sc Courses. The BITSAT (BIT Science Aptitude Test) entrance examination is held at the national level. It is a computer-based exam which tests the candidate’s scientific aptitude for various engineering courses.

BITSAT Exam 2018 Pattern & Syllabus

In the BITS Admission Test, student’s engineering aptitude is tested. The question paper is divided into 4 sections. It contains 150 questions. All questions are objective type in nature with four answer choices. Each correct answer will fetch 3 marks while 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer.

Important points to be noted

1.   The candidates appearing for B.Pharma exam should attempt the Biology section, whereas those appearing for other courses should attempt the Mathematics section.

2.    There are 12 extra questions in the BITSAT question paper, targeting candidates with high intelligence quotient. These are optional questions. The candidates wishing to prove their extra merit could attempt this section on their will. But once they enter into this section, they cannot return to the General section of the question paper. Hence, it is advised to enter into the special section only after completing the General section.

BITSAT Exam 2018 Eligibility

Eligibility For B. Pharma

  • A candidate should have done class 12th from any recognised University or board. In class 12th, a candidate should have opted for PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with English. Candidates with PCM can also apply for the Pharmacy program.
  • Candidates should have scored minimum aggregate marks of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics (whichever they have opted for BITSAT).

Eligibility For B. Tech/Other Courses

  • A candidate should have done class 12th from any recognised University or board. In class 12th, a candidate should have taken the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) with English. A candidate should have scored minimum aggregate marks of 75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Candidates appearing in class 12th exams in 2018 are also eligible to apply for BITSAT 2018.
  • The candidates who have done their class 12th in 2016 or earlier are not eligible to apply for the BITSAT 2018 Exam.

BITSAT Exam 2018 Application Process

Candidates can apply for the BITSAT (BITS Admission Test Application) only through the online mode. For the BITSAT 2018 exam, candidates can access the Application form till 13 March 2018 (05:00 P.M.). The hard copies of the completed application form should not be sent to the exam conducting authority. However, the print copies of the filled Application form can be kept for the future reference.

How To Apply

  • The applicant should visit the official website of BITS Pilani;
  • He/She should click on the option for application form of BITSAT exam 2018.
  • It is a 3 stage process; Registration, Filling the Application form and paying the Application fee.
  • For Registration, the candidate should fill his basic details like Name, Address, valid Email id and Mobile number.
  • Upon registration, the candidate’s account is created. The login ID and password of the account are sent to the candidate's e-mail id.
  • In the application form, a candidate should fill all the requisite details, like, educational qualification, certificates, age, name, address, parent’s details etc.
  • For correcting errors in the Application form after its submission, the candidate should wait for the opening of the Correction window.
  • A candidate should upload the digital image of his/her photograph and signature on the Application form.
  • The candidate should pay the requisite Application fee also along with the Application Form.

Application Fee

  • The application fee for BITSAT 2018 is ₹2950/- for male candidates and ₹ 2450/- for female candidates.
  • Candidates (both male and female) opting Dubai as a test center should pay ₹ 4500/- as application fee.

Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.

I.    Online through the Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.

II.    Offline cash payment at any ICICI Bank branch through online generated Pay-in-slip.

Other Details

Admit Card Issuance

Candidates can download the BITSAT 2018 hall tickets/admit cards from 12 April 2018 onwards from the official website. The last date to download the hall tickets is 10 May 2018. Hall tickets are necessary for entry into the examination hall.


The candidates can see their results on their exam screen in a few minutes after the completion of their test paper. In the results, candidates can see their overall score, sectional score, number of correct-incorrect answers and the total marks deducted for their every incorrect response.

However, the candidate can know about their selection for admission only after the preparation of the final merit list and ranks. Both the admission list and waiting list will be published on 20 June 2018.

Q. When can candidates get the Application form for the BITSAT Exam 2018?

The BITSAT exam 2018 application form was released on 19 December 2017 and will be available for application till 13 March 2018 (05:00 P.M.).

Q. Can a student who has scored less than 75% of marks in PCM apply for the BITSAT Exam 2018?

No, a candidate is required to have scored at least a minimum of 75% of marks in PCM in 12th class.

Q. For which course of BITSAT a candidate can apply if he has physics, chemistry and biology in 12th class?

A candidate with PCB can apply for the B.Pharma course of BITSAT.

Q. How to apply for the exam if one is given simply grade instead of aggregate marks in his 12th class exams?

One should convert his grade into a percentage of marks as per the guidelines of his board/university. Candidate should then also mention the method by which he has converted his grades into the percentage marks while submitting his application form.

Q. If a candidate is required to fill a separate application form for the different centres of the BITS colleges?

No, a candidate is not required to fill any separate application form for the different centres of the BITS Pilani colleges. He should simply fill about the centres of his preferences in the application form.

Q. Can an NRI/OCI appear for the exam?

No, they are not eligible to appear for the exam.

Q. A candidate has scored less than 75% of marks and is giving an exam for improvement. Will he be eligible for the exam if he scores 75% after improvement exam?

Those candidates who are taking improvement exams only for few subjects are not eligible for the exam. If they are taking improvement exams of all the subjects in PCB/PCM only then will become eligible for the exam provided he score an aggregate of 75% marks.
