AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) is one of the premier medical institute of India. It carries within its fold seven medical institutions located across different cities of India. It was created under the Parliamentary act of 1956 on an autonomous lines and was declared as the institute of national importance. AIIMS organizes and conducts its own exam on national level for its various courses of MBBS/MD/MS/ DM (6years)/ M. Ch.(6years)/MDS/ Health Science/Paramedical/Biotechnology/ Dentistry and Nursing. AIIMS, New Delhi is the frontrunner organization among all the AIIMS colleges and it serves as the parent organization for conducting AIIMS Exams.

Eligibility for AIIMS Exam

For the AIIMS (MBBS) 2017, Exam applicants should fulfill the following criteria-

  • They should be citizen of India. The OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) are also eligible to apply for the exam.
  • Applicants should have done their 12th class with the combination of science subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Students who are appearing for their 12th exam in the year 2017, are also eligible to apply.
  • The minimum percentage of marks required to apply for the exam is as follows-
  1. General / OBC candidate – 60% aggregate.
  2. SC/ST/ PH category candidate – 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Applicants should be 17 years on 31st Dec. 2017. They should not have been born earlier than 2nd January, 2017.

Reservation of Seat

For the AIIMS (MBBS) 2017, Exam the seats are reserved as per the directives of the Government of India. For this exam there are total of 672 seats that are available for the candidates from different categories. Check out below for the distribution of seats across different centres of AIIMS.

AIIMS Exam Admission Process

Filling of the Application Form

Applicants can avail the application form online from the 3rd week of February. It will remain available online almost for a month i.e. by the 3rd week of March. They should visit the official website of the AIIMS for getting the authentic application form. They should fill all the necessary details required to be filled and then submit the application form online. It is not required to send the printed copy or the hard copy of the application form to the AIIMS. However, the applicants are advised to keep the copy of the Application form for reference or any kind of its use in future.

How To Apply

  • The following steps are required to be done while filling the application form –
  • Visit the official website of the AIIMS.
  • Click for registration. You will be asked for making New registration.
  • Then fill details about yourself like, name, address, mobile number and valid email id. This will create your account with the candidate id on the site. You must note down your candidate id for further login to the site.
  • There after you will be required to make the payment for the fee.
  • Then you are required to furnish details of your educational qualification and board.
  • Select the centre of your examination and also upload the image of your recent photo for making the final submission of your form.
  • Take out the print of your application form for future reference.

The Application Fee can be paid in either of the mode –

  • Either by the online mode through the Net-Banking or through Credit Card or Debit Card.
  • If online mode is not possible for the candidate, then he can pay offline through the bank e-challan from any branch of SBI Bank.


AIIMS Exam Pattern (Syllabus)

The AIIMS (MBBS) 2017, Exam will be a computer based test. It will not be a pen and a paper based test. The question paper will be an objective type with multiple choice of answers. The duration of exam will be 3 hours and 30 minutes. There is provision for the negative marking scheme for the aforesaid exams. For each correct answer 1 marks will be given and for each wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.

Soon after the announcement of the AIIMS (MBBS) 2017, Exam results, counselling will start.

  • The 1st counselling will be done on 3rd,4th ,5th and 6th July, 2017.
  • The 2nd counselling will be done on 3rd of August,2017.
  • The 3rd counselling will be held on 5th September,2017.
  • Date for open counselling ( if needed) , will be held on 26th Sep.,2017.


Admit Card Issuance

The AIIMS, New Delhi, the exam conducting authority will issue the admit cards of candidates in the month of May, 2017 at its official website. Candidates can download it from the website and must carry it along with themselves on the day of the exam.

Result Announcement

The result of the AIIMS (MBBS) 2017, Exam, will be announced on the 14th June, 2017, by the AIIMS, New-Delhi. Candidates can see their results online on the official website of AIIMS by entering their name, roll number and category. The average cut off marks for different categories of candidates are as follows –

  • General – 50% approx.
  • OBC -45% approx.
  • SC/ST-40% approx.

Counselling of Candidates for admission

After the declaration of the exams results counselling will start. It will be done by the exam conducting authority i.e. AIIMS, Delhi. Candidates will be required to be physically present for their counselling on the given date. In counselling candidates are given choice of their centres as per their rank and merit. So far 3 rounds of counselling dates are announced by the authority and in addition there is also a proposal for the open round of counselling as per the requirement.

No, a candidate cannot change the centre of his exams after its submission.

Q. If a candidate is required to fill the choice of the AIIMS location while filling the form?

There is no such requirement made during the filling of the examination form. It is done after the announcement of the result, during the process of counselling.

Q. If foreign nationals are allowed to take up this exam?

Candidates belonging to the category of overseas citizen of India are eligible to appear for this exam.

The candidates are required to visit the official website of the AIIMS to get the access to the application form.

Q. How a candidate can obtain the login id and password from the website?

On the official website of the AIIMS candidate is required to register himself by giving few details about himself. After that he get registered and is given a login id and password. 

Q. If any documents are required to be uploaded during the filling of the application form?

No there is no such requirement of submitting any documents while filling the application form.
