The online registration begins for the NASA Space Settlement Contest 2020. Every year, the National Space Society (NSS) and NASA Ames Research Center invite meritorious contestant of 18 years old to participate in the annual summit of Space Settlement Contest arranged by NASA. The competition sets its range to the worldwide and guides students to join the competition individually or either in a team. Students need to develop a strategy which mentions the space settlements designs and its related materials. The first position holder either individual or a team will be honored a prize named as Herman Rubin Award which consist USD 5,000. Apart from this student of class 7th to 12th will get a NASA Certificate for their brilliant entry or contribution. 

The scholarship course invites all the 2020 applicants to join the NSS 39th Annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC) in Arlington. The objective to run this fellowship scheme is to inspire thousands of young dynamic fellows and encourage them to bring the excitement of space settlement in front of the world. For the 2020 session, students get a change to join hands with the contest theme till 15th February 2020.

Students from all around the world are eligible to submit an entry for NASA Ames Space Settlement Contest 2020. The annual contest is designed for all students studying up to 12th class. Candidates can participate in the competition in the form of individuals, small teams (of two to five), and large teams (of six to twelve) whose gonna be judged separately. Not more than 12 students on a single project can be entertained by the official body.

Submissions of the competition include Designs original research, models, essays, artwork, stories or any other orbital space settlement and related materials should be submitted. The contest will be divided into several categories as follows:

  • 7th grade and younger: individual, small group, large group
  • 8th grade: individual, small group, large group
  • 9th grade: individual, small group, large group
  • 10th grade: individual, small group, large group
  • 11th grade: individual, small group, large group
  • 12th grade: individual, small group, large group

NASA Ames Space Settlement Contest - Process of Application

Steps to Follow -

  • At an initial stage, nominees need to visit the authorized web portal of the NASA Ames Space Settlement Contest 2020.
  • Now, Register yourself first and create a new account.
  • Fill the application form, and submit all the required documents.
  • After this submit your entry for the contest.

Note: There is a registration fee of $12, which every applicant needs to pay.

Documents Required to Submit:

All the enthralling students who want to attend the International Space Development Conference need to request for a Visa before the application process. If an invitation letter is required, the participants shall ask for it at [email protected]

Rules and Regulations:

  1. The submissions must not be longer than 50 pages.
  2. The project file of the contest shouldn’t be larger than 24 MB.
  3. Plagiarism work will not be entertained.
  4. All the decisions taken by the judges will be considered as final.
  5. Contestants are responsible for all their traveling costs and conference expenses.
  6. The participants might use photographs from the web but they need to mention the source.
  7. Instructors, parents or mentors might assist the student by presenting relevant resources, suggesting minor edits and discussing core concepts, but the work itself must be entirely student produced.
  8. If the organizing committee will find any kind of copied or plagiarism work they immediately cancel the entry of the fellow contestant.
