  3. Atlas Shrugged depicts a society of diminishing economic freedom. What is the philosophical motivation behind these controls and what is the practical result? What is hero John Galt’s answer, both practically and philosophically? Use the events in the novel to support your answer. In your answer, consider what Ayn Rand says in the lecture “Faith and Force.”

Shortlisted winners of the essay competition will receive a fellowship amount worth of USD 70,000 to the 59 meritorious scholars in the following approach:

  • USD 25,000 for 1 winner of the 1st position holder
  • USD 2,500 for 3 winners of the 2nd position holder
  • USD 500 for 5 winners of the 3rd position holder
  • USD 100 for 50 finalists of the competition
