The Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO has extended the deadline to upload the required pdf copy of 8th Class mark sheet with other relevant certificates for ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020. Earlier for 2020 session, the last date to submit certificates was 26th March which has now been extended to 02nd April 2020. Candidates are advised to visit the official ISRO website – isro.gov.in to check more updates.

ISRO Young Scientist Program is initiated for the school children who are dedicated to space science and want to career in the same field. The program has been launched for the students who are enrolled or pursuing an education in Class 9th from the recognized board of CBSE, ICSE, and State syllabi are eligible to participate in the scheme. Students will be selected on the basis of their academic performance and extracurricular activities. For the ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020, the final submissions of the applicants were held on 12th January 2020, while candidates who are unable to fill the application form can submit their entries for ISRO Young Scientist Program 2021 from 21st May 2020.

As of now, provisionally selected students for ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020 have an opportunity to upload their Class 8th mark sheet till 02nd April 2020. ISRO will announce the final selection list of 113 qualified students after the verification of relevant certificates.

About the ISRO Young Scientist Program

The Young Scientist Program is a two weeks educational program which will be commenced during the summer holidays. The program offers a broad spectrum of creativity and fosters the knowledge of young minds on Space Technology and its mechanism. The basic aim to introduce ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020 is to build up the wall of interest between young generations related to the activities of Space Science and Space Applications. The curriculum thus increases the interest level of the youngsters and enables them to learn the detailed structure of the Indian Space Research Organization. Under this course, scholastic aspirants will invite for two weeks summer holidays program and participate in lab visits, talk shows & discussions with experts, practical knowledge, and gain extensive knowledge of the program.

Objective of the Fellowship Program

The revitalizing platform of ISRO Young Scientist Program is run under the progressive direction of Indian Space Research Organization. The scheme was introduced to share and spread out the Central Government’s vision “Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan”. The objective to begin this program is to support an arena of Space Science between young minds and arouse their level of interest in the conceptualizing subjects of building satellites. Moreover, the ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020 entitles class 9th students to participate in the commencing event and make their own small satellites.

Young Scientist Program: Scholarship Rewards & Benefits

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is all set to commence the training program of the ISRO Young Scientist Program for the 2020 session. Under this scheme, around 113 students of class 9th will be invited for the two weeks duration program at the time of summer holidays. In this training program, students will get closer interactions of the Space management, Space technology, Space science, and Space applications.

Apart from this, the qualified winners will be accommodated to stay in ISRO guest houses or hotels. During the entire course the expenditure towards the travel (II AC fare by train from nearest Railway Station to the reporting centre and back), lodging, course material, and boarding etc. will be offered by the ISRO. More than this, II AC fare will also be offered to one parent for drop and pick up of the student from the reporting centre.

ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020: Criterion of Eligibility

For the commencing program of Young Scientist Program enthusiast’s Indian students of class 9th who are enrolled under CBSE, ICSE or any other State syllabi are eligible to participate in the scheme. The ISRO has requested all the States and Union Territories to select three auspicious students each for the program and submit the final list by 12th January 2020.

What are the Steps for Application?

Students need to coordinate with their respective schools in order to submit their applications for the fellowship program of the Young Scientist Program- ISRO 2020. According to the officials, the ISRO has approached the Chief Secretaries of the respective States and UT of India and tell them to select three optimistic aspirants from each State/UT and send the final list to the organizing committee. For the commencing session of 2020, the sum total of 113 students will be shortlisted for the upcoming summer training session.

Selection Process of ISRO Young Scientist Program

The criterion of selection is completely based on the student’s academic performance and extracurricular activities. However, applicants from the rural area have been provided a special weightage in the process of selection.

At the initial stage, every recognized school under ISRO Young Scientist Program 2020 will provide the name of their best class 9th students after which they need to submit the important documents at the official ISRO Portal. Once they qualify the verification round, ISRO will generate the final list of 113 selected students for the scheme.
