About ICMR JRF 2020

ICMR JRF 2020, which is conducted under the umbrella of by the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi every year for the meritorious dedicated students who wish to make a career in the Medical Science Field. Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi (ICMR) organizes ICMR JRF Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for offering admission to 150 candidates into the Research and the Ph.D. Programs.

Fields/ Subjects to Grant Scholarships

There will be a sum total of 150 fellowships will be offered to the students based on their performance in the entrance test.

  • 120 Fellowships will be distributed in the field of Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on Life Sciences (like physiology, microbiology, molecular biology, human biology, environmental sciences, biotechnology, genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, immunology, biophysics, pharmacology, zoology, botany, nursing, and veterinary Medicine (excluding Agriculture extension/ Soil Sciences, etc.).
  • 30 Fellowships will be awarded for the work in Social Sciences like sociology, psychology, home science, social work, statistics anthropology, public health/health economics. Agriculture economics will not be considered for award of the ICMR JRF fellowship.

ICMR JRF 2020 Scholarship Amount

The scholars will receive an award of Junior Research Fellowship depend on their placement in the medical college / hospital / university / national laboratory / institution of higher learning and research as applicable. A total of 150 Fellowships would be awarded as an ICMR JRF 2020 Fellowship award.

Note: The Fellowship award given to the candidates is valid for 6 months only.

  • He/she must have passed and appearing candidates of M.Sc/ M.A. or equivalent degree with an aggregate of 55% marks.

Age Limit

  • The age limit to attempt the test is 28 years, while there will some upper age limit to the reserved categories – 5 years of age relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST, PH, and female ones. For OBC candidates, the age relaxation is 3 years.

Application Fee Asked for ICMR JEE 2020

Candidates can pay the application fee only via online mode. No other modes other than this are accepted. The application fee is non-refundable which is paid through Net banking, Credit card, and Debit card. The application fee is lying different for different category students:

  • General/ EWS/ OBC students – ₹ 1500
  • SC/ ST/ PH/ VH students – ₹ 1200
  • PWD students – Nil

Selection Criteria:

The selection process of the eligible candidates will be completed on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate at entrance exam. For General Category & OBC students it is 55% of the aggregate and for SC/ST and Physically Handicapped students, it will be 50% of the aggregate marks.

ICMR JRF 2020 Syllabus and Examination Pattern

ICMR conducts computer-based test for a total duration of 2 hours which consists of MCQs. The exam will be dispersed into three sections A, B, C for 50 Questions, 100 questions for both B and C section. There will be a sum total of 150 questions with +1 mark for each right answer and -0.25 per negative answer.
