The Geo Genius Geography Olympiad is an annual fest organized for the young budding meritorious students of Class 2nd to Class 10th. The Olympiad is an effort to promote competitive spirit among children and encourage them to work independently with an innovative approach. The objective of this Olympiad is to appraise the knowledge of brilliant competitors and boost their level of interest to study and understand the system of our planet. The Geo Genius Geography Olympiad focuses the path of knowledge for students and makes them aware of the benefits of studying geography.

Through this fellowship, aspirants will get a chance to win exciting prizes like medals, trophy, laptop, digital camera, wrist watch etc. The last date to apply for this scholarship is 31st October 2018. The Geo Genius Geography Olympiad will be conducted twice in a year for the school students and help them to participate for competitive exams at a national and international stage.

The Geo Genius Geography Olympiad is designed to reward genius minds of the meritorious students of schooling level. The Olympiad is scheduled to be conducted on the month of December 2018 at various school centers across the nation.  

More about the Olympiad:

Students will participate in Geo Genius Geography Olympiad in two phases. In the first phase, the examination will be done in the schools. In second phase students will call to participate in the National Finals in the month of April. The whole evaluation process of selection will be based on the cut-off and marks obtained by the students.

There are three categories for Geo Genius Competition:

  • Studying students of Class 2nd to 4th – Sub Junior Level
  • Studying students of Class 5th to 7th - Junior Level
  • Studying students of Class 8th to 10th – Senior Level

Details of the Award:

Rewards for School Level 1

  1. All 3 medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze) will be awarded to the students in case of minimum participation of 15 candidates in a single category.
  2. If in case less than 15 but more than 10 students participate in the Olympiad then only Gold and Silver medals will be honored.
  3. If less than 10 but more than 5 candidates will participate in Geo Genius then only Gold medal will be rewarded.
  4. In case of fewer than 5 participants, then no medal will be distributed.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aspiring students of Class 2nd to 10th who are studying in any State Board, ICSE Board, CBSE Board and International Boards can apply for the fellowship.
  • At least 50 students from each school can enrol in Geo Genius Geography Olympiad 2018.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Application forms for the Olympiad would be available in the school.
  2. Interested candidates need to contact their teacher or teacher-in-charge at school.
  3. Participants must be registered through schools only.

The School charges

The schools can conduct the Level 1 exam in their own premises on the scheduled date and eligible to charge ₹ 20 per student towards invigilation charges, postage and other charges.

Textbook charges

Participants can get preparatory textbooks for the examination at a cost of ₹ 110/- from school premises.

Examination Pattern: 

The Olympiad will be conducted in two levels as follows:

Level 1

Candidates need to give written exams which consist of multiple choice questions.

The completion is organized for the meritorious students of Class 2nd to Class 10th and testing their geographical knowledge and skills.

2.

Level 2

Only top 50 students ranked in each category of level 1 get a chance to enrol for the level 2 exam. The level 2 examination comprises of written test followed by an audio-visual round. In the written exam, multiple choice questions will be asked. In order to appear in the audiovisual round, students have to qualify the written examination. In each category, top 10 participants will be qualified for the audio-visual round.

Selection Procedure:

All the candidates will be shortlisted for level 2 examinations on the basis of their performance in level 1 examination.
