IGNOU January Session

Founded in 1985 by an Act of Parliament, Indira Gandhi National Open University, popularly known as IGNOU – the people’s University, claims to be the largest university in the world. It has a wide network of 2667 study centres, 67 regional centres and overseas centres in 40 foreign countries. Offering 230 academic programmes comprising Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor’s, Certificate and Diploma courses, the Open University has served more than 4 million students not only in India but abroad. IGNOU aims at ‘providing higher education opportunities to all segments of society’ by encouraging, coordinating and setting standards for ODL in India.

The university offers high-quality education through open and distance mode. IGNOU has 21 schools of studies and a network of 67 regional centres in India.

IGNOU conducts entrance exam twice a year – January and July.

IGNOU 2020 Latest Update – The Indira Gandhi National Open University has postponed the June 2020 term end examination (TEE), which was schedule to be held on 01st June 2020. The reason to postpone the exam is the spread of novel coronavirus and the implemented lockdown.  The new revised schedule for exams will be decided later taking cognizance of the situation. Candidates who will appear for the June Term end exam must note that they have to submit their assignments on or before meeting up the deadline i.e. 15th May 2020. IGNOU January Session 2020 Pattern & Syllabus

The entrance test will be conducted for admission to various IGNOU programmes for the January and July session. The question pattern of the Master’s programmes will vary from that of the Bachelor’s. Candidates should read the prospectus carefully before applying for the exam. It will provide information about the entrance exam including the examination pattern. Some of the common areas are - Quantitative Aptitude, Mental Ability, General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning.

The exam pattern of OPENMAT 2020 covers the above 4 sections. It will be an offline exam where students will be provided with an OMR sheet. The pattern for B.Ed./ MBA entrance exam will be same as of the OPENMAT exam.



IGNOU January Session 2020 Eligibility

For Master’s Programme -

  • MCA: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree of not less than 3 years. The applicant should have done Class 12th or graduation with mathematics as one of the subjects.
  • MBA: Candidates should have completed Bachelors in any stream from a recognised university.
  • M.A.: Bachelor’s degree
  • PG Diploma in Rural Development:  Bachelor’s degree

For Bachelor’s Level Courses -

  • B.A/ B.Com: Should have done Class 12th or equivalent from a recognised board or university.
  • B. Sc: Must have done Class 12th in Science or equivalent from a recognised board or university.
  • BSW: Should have passed Class 12th or equivalent from a recognised board or university.
  • BCA: Candidates should have done Class 12th or equivalent from a recognised board or university.
  • Diploma in Tourism: Applicants must have done Class 12th or equivalent from a recognised board or university.
  • Diploma in Dairy Technology: Applicants should have passed Class 12th or equivalent from a recognised board or university.

Or, students should have qualified BPP (Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme) from IGNOU.

For IGNOU OPENMAT –

  • Students must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 50% marks (45% marks for reserved category)

Age Limit:

There’s no upper age limit set or prescribed by the Institute.


IGNOU January Session 2020 Application Process

Indian candidates can submit the applications in online mode at the authorised website of IGNOU. For foreign nationals, the University has an offline facility. The January session admission process has already started for UG, PG, Diploma and Certificate programmes. The last date to fill in the online form is 28th February 2020. Candidates need to be careful while providing details. Check out the below-mentioned guidelines to complete the IGNOU January 2020 registration process.

IGNOU January 2020 Admission Process -

  • Visit the online portal of IGNOU.
  • Select the ‘Registration Process’ button to create login credentials - Login User Name and Password
  • Use the credentials to log in again
  • Provide educational, personal and other important details
  • The next step is to upload documents like the signature (100kb in JPEG format), photograph (100kb in JPG format), etc.
  • Click on the ‘Declaration’ box
  • Go through the details before remitting the admission fee
  • Pay the application fee using the debit card, credit card and net banking
  • Select ‘Next’
  • Select ‘Take Print/ Save’ to get a print

IGNOU January 2020 Registration Fees

The registration fee needs to be paid online through the debit card (Master/ Rupay/ Visa), credit card (Visa/ Master) and net banking. The registration amount is ₹ 1,000/-.
 
Note: Students should select the course carefully as the application fee once paid is non-refundable.

Application Process for MBA/ B.Ed. Entrance Test

The entrance exam for MBA/ B.Ed. programmes will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The applications for the same are to be submitted through the official NTA IGNOU website from 31st January 2020. The application fee for the entrance exam is ₹ 600.


Other Details

IGNOU January Session 2020 Admit Card -

Candidates can get their admit card downloaded online from the IGNOU official website two weeks before the exam.  To download the hall ticket, enter the registration number, name and date of birth. Make sure the call letter contains the candidate’s details like the name, roll number, exam date, venue of the exam, etc. Carry the admit card along with one photo identify proof while turning up for the test.

IGNOU January Session 2020 Result -

The result of the entrance examination will be announced on the official website of IGNOU after a few days of the completion of the test. However, candidates must take note that the results of different courses will not be announced on the same date. They can check for the result in the ‘New Announcement/ Result’ section.

IGNOU January Session 2020 Counselling -

Qualified students will be called for the counselling process, which will be organised at the respective IGNOU Regional Centres. Students need to complete the choice filling process. IGNOU will confirm the admission only after the verification of the original documents submitted by the candidates.

Hi, It depends. For example if you are a student of a 6 month course, you will be assessed after 6 months. If you take admission in January session. Yearly programmes — You must submit you assignments on or before 30th September and your TEE in December. This is what i have understood so far after discussing with so many students.
