IGNOU B.Ed. Admission 2020 – Eligibility, Exam Pattern, and Application Procedure

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme for understanding of teaching-learning process at the secondary and senior-secondary level. The applications for the 2020 admission are invited online. Interested applicants can apply through the official admission website. The applications will be accepted only through the online mode. The last date to submit the online application is 1st July 2019. The entrance examination for the same is scheduled to be conducted on 27th July 2019 and the session will begin from January 2020. Steps to apply for IGNOU B.Ed. Programmes January 2020 Session
From this year onwards, the IGNOU B.Ed. exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Follow the steps provided below to fill the application form
- Go to the official website for NTA IGNOU online admission.
- Click on the ‘Application Form for B.Ed.’ button.
- Under the ‘New Candidate Registration’ section, click on ‘APPLY’ button.
- Tick the check-box and click on the ‘Click here to Proceed’ button.
- Complete the registration process to get log-in details.
- Use your log-in details to access the application form.
- Complete the application form by entering personal details, qualifications, course details, etc.
- Upload the scanned images of the documents.
- Make fee payment. The fee for the IGNOU B.Ed. entrance exam is ₹ 600/- and can be paid through internet banking, Debit card/Credit card.
On successful payment, take a printout of the completed application form.
Eligibility Criteria
Here is the eligibility for admission into IGNOU B.Ed. courses:
- Candidates with Bachelor’s or/and Master’s degree in Social Sciences/Sciences/Humanities/Commerce with at least 50% marks.
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with minimum 55% marks.
Candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria are eligible for the B.Ed. programme through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode:
- Those who have completed the NCTE recognized teacher education programme through regular mode.
OR
- Trained in-service teachers in Elementary Education
A relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks of the qualifying exam will be provided to candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PWD category. Kashmiri migrants and war widows will get the reservation as per University rules.
Please Note: Those candidates whose result has not been declared till the last date of application submission are not eligible for the exam.
Exam Pattern for the B.Ed. Entrance Exam
The IGNOU B.Ed. entrance exam will be conducted through the computer based test mode. The exam will comprise of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) from the following sections:

About the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme
IGNOU B.Ed. programme is an innovative programme with a mix of theoretical and practical classes conducted for developing a student’s understanding, attitude, knowledge, and skills towards the teaching profession.
Recognised by – National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)
Minimum Duration of the Programme – Two years
Maximum Duration of the Programme – Five years
The Medium of Programme – The programme is offered in both English and Hindi languages.
