WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) is a state-level engineering entrance exam conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board every year. The exam is conducted for taking admission into undergraduate level engineering programmes (B.Tech. / B.E.) offered by the government and private colleges in the West Bengal state. The examination and admission process for the year 2019 has completed and now the application process for the 2020 exam has begun from 18th October 2019. WBJEE 2020 Latest Update - West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board has released the WBJEE 2020 answer key (provisional). Candidates can raise objections against the answer key till 19th February. The exam will be conducted on 2nd February 2020 in two shifts – Paper-I and Paper-II.

WBJEE Exam 2020 Pattern & Syllabus

WBJEE 2020 Exam Pattern

The WBJEE examination will be conducted through the offline mode. All the questions will be of objective type with four options. The duration of the exam will be 4 hours. The questions will be asked from the following sections:

The total marks of the exam will be 200. There will be three categories of questions in each subject. Category 1 questions will be of 1 mark and Category 2 and 3 questions will be of 2 marks.

Negative Marking - 1/4th marks will be deducted for each incorrect response in category 1 and 2. There will be no negative marking in category 3.

WBJEE 2020 Syllabus

WBJEE 2020 syllabus will be released by the official exam conducting authorities. The syllabus topics will be from class 12th syllabus. The WBJEE 2020 syllabus topics as per 2019 syllabus are:

Mathematics - Algebra, Coordinate Geometry of Two Dimensions, Coordinate Geometry of Three Dimensions, Trigonometry, Calculus.

Chemistry - Atoms, Molecules and Chemical Arithmetic, Atomic Structure, Periodic Table and Chemical Families, Solid, Liquid and Gaseous State, Radioactivity and Nuclear Chemistry, Coordination Compounds, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Chemical Energetics and Chemical Dynamics.

Physics - Physical, Measurements, World, Units and Dimensions, Motion of Centre of Mass, Friction, Connected Systems, Laws of Motion, Kinematics, Gravitation, Bulk Properties of Matter, Electrostatics, Thermodynamics, Viscosity, Oscillation & Waves, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Current Electricity, Atomic Physics, Optics I (Ray Optics), Optics II (Wave Optics), Solid State Electricity, Nuclear Physics.

WBJEE Exam 2020 Eligibility

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.


  • Applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates must also have West Bengal domicile.

Age Limit

The minimum age limit must be 17 years as on 31st December 2020. In other words, candidates born on or after 1st January 2003 will not be eligible for the exam.

Those who are applying for the Marine Engineering course must not be more than 25 years as on 31st December 2020.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with Mathematics and Physics with any one of the Biology/ Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as compulsory subjects. The minimum aggregate percentage must be 45% (40% for reserved category candidates) in all three subjects.

Candidates should also have qualified in English subject in 12th examination with minimum 30% marks.

WBJEE Exam 2020 Application Process

The online application process has started at the official website from 18th October 2019. Candidates must fill the application form before 13th November 2019. Please fill the application form carefully. Here are the steps for filling the WBJEE 2020 application form.

Steps for filling the WGJEE 2020 Application Form -

  • Visit the WBJEE official website.
  • Click on the link for applying for the WBJEE 2020 exam.
  • Enter all the details for registration and complete the registration process.
  • Once the registration is complete, you will receive the login details.
  • Now, sign-in with the log-in details and complete the application form.
  • Enter your personal details, exam city preference, educational details, and communication information.
  • Upload scanned images of photograph and signature as per the specifications provided.
  • Make the payment of the application fee. The application fee has to be paid online through internet banking/ credit card/ debit card. The application fee details are ₹ 700/- (Seven Hundred) for General category and ₹ 500/- for reserved categories. The additional transaction charges/ bank charges are to be paid by the candidates.
  • After successful fee submission, take a print of the confirmation page.

There is no need to send the hard copy of the application form to the exam conducting authority.

Other Details

WBJEE 2020 Admit Card

The exam conducting authorities has uploaded the WBJEE 2020 admit card at the official website on 24th January 2020. Candidates can download the admit card using their log-in credentials. Admit card is an important document and candidates need to carry the same for making entry to the examination hall. Admit card will contain details such as candidate’s name, roll number, examination time, date, and venue, etc.

WBJEE 2020 Answer Key

The WBJEE 2020 answer key (provisional) has been released on 17th February 2020. Candidates can access the answer key through the official portal. Candidates can raise objections against the provisional answer key on payment of ₹ 500 per question till 19th February 2020. And, the final answer key will be released after considering the objections. The final answer key will be released in March 2020. The answer key can be downloaded using the login details.

WBJEE 2020 Result

The WBJEE 2020 result will be released on the official website. The exact date of the result declaration will be notified later. The result will contain the candidate’s rank, score, and subject-wise scores. The WBJEE 2020 result/ rank card can be downloaded using the application number and password.

WBJEE 2020 Counselling

Candidates are required to participate in the WBJEE 2020 counselling process as per the schedule. The counselling scheduled will be announced at the official website after the exam. They need to register for the counselling process. After registration, the online counselling process comprises of choice filling and locking of college preference, and seat allotment. After the seat allotment, candidates need to report physically at the allotted institute for document verification and completing the admission formalities. It is mandatory to physically report at the allotted college on the date and time written on the allotment letter to secure the seat.
