Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship is being provided by the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, the National Academy of Sciences, India, Allahabad and the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi. The fellowship starts with a view to foster the growth of Science and Technology in the North Eastern States of India. For this scholarship scheme, students who are pursuing their bachelors/ masters degree in a UGC/ AICTE/ MCI recognized college and teachers who are teaching in college/ university are eligible to apply.

This coming year 2019 around 200 scholarships will be offered to young hardworking meritorious students who want to work and improve their skills under scientists associated with three academies anywhere in the country. Under Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship 2019 students will be rewarded on the basis of their creativity and optimistic approach in the field of Science. This time the scholarship is only applicable for the North Eastern States of the country which includes Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Sikkim, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chhattisgarh region.

Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship 2019 provides an opportunity to brilliant candidates and offers them a scholarship platform to enhance their knowledge. All the interested candidates have a chance to enroll themselves for the scholarship till 30 November 2018. The notification for the application process is out and students can check the eligibility, dates, selection process and steps to apply for the examination here. 

About the scholarship:

The Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship 2019 is working with an objective to stimulate and expand the vision of Science and Technology in the North Eastern zone of India. To avail, the benefits of the scheme only pass out grad or post-grad students and teachers are eligible to apply.

Highlights of the Scholarship Scheme:

  • Students can submit their applications till 30 November 2018.
  • This time 200 students will be honored and get the scholarship.
  • The fellowship aimed to encourage and expand the knowledge in Science & Technology.

Scholarship Amount:

200 scholars will be honored under Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship 2019. The scholarship provides a platform to work with scientists associates in the field of Science and Technology. The selected winners will also get a monthly scholarship reward to fulfill their living expenses and a round-trip train fare.

Eligibility criteria for students

The participants must be studying in a particular course as follows:

  • BTech/ BCA/ BE (Only 2nd and the 3rd year studying students can apply).
  • MS/ MSc/ MPharm/ MVSc (1st year students are eligible to apply).
  • MArch/ MCA/ ME/ MTech (Only 1st year students CAN APPLY).
  • BSc/ BVSc/ BS (2nd year students are eligible).
  • BPharma (Only 3rd and 4th years candidates are eligible).
  • BArch (Only 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years will consider for the fellowship).
  • MS / MSc/ MBBS/ MTech (5-year integrated) (2nd, 3rd, and 4th years students can apply).
  • PharmD (Only 3rd and 4th years pursuing students will consider for the scheme).
  • Dual degree students of BTech + MTech program (Only 2nd, 3rd , and 4th years candidates can apply). 
  • Applicants of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year (Dual degree) MSc + BE program are eligible to apply.
  • Dual degree students of MS + BS program (Only 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years will consider.
  • 1st and 2nd year students of MSc Tech will consider for the fellowship scheme.
  • Studying students of 1st and 2nd year Integrated PhD course will also eligible to apply.

Eligibility criteria for teachers

Teachers who are working in North Eastern states including Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and Bihar are eligible to apply only.

3.

Educational Qualifications

Students have to secure the minimum aggregate marks of 65% and above in the core subjects only (excluding languages) from class 10th to their PG degree.

Important Note: The minimum aggregate marks will not be applicable for teachers.

Other details

As per the officials, PhD students will not eligible to apply.

Steps to Apply for Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship:

  • Visit here to apply for the scholarship scheme.
  • Now, students need to select their relevant category (either Student or Teacher) and area of interest and tap on ‘Next’ button to continue the application.
  • Select the sub area under selected subject.
  • Start filling the online application form and complete the entire process.
  • Next step is to upload a scanned copy of your important documents (Such as class 10th and other educational mark sheets along with address proof) in JPEG format only.
  • At last, submit your form and take a print out for future reference.

Teacher category applicants should submit their published work if any.

If the teacher candidate will be selected for the fellowship, the applicant should need to send an authorization letter of permission or leave of absence from the Head of the school and must be sent by post to the Coordinator, FAST-SF 2019, Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore 560 080.

Rules and Regulations:

  • The shortlisted candidates are required to work with the assigned guide for the period of two months.
  • The fellowship will be canceled at any stage if any wrong or misleading information will be provided by the applicant.
  • Only one application per candidate will be acceptable.
  • Applications after the last date will not be considered.
  • For the application, the candidate must have to write an essay (in 150- 250 words) and tell the committee why he /she would want to earn this scholarship.
  • It is mandatory for the student applicants to upload one of their present teacher contact details in the form.
  • The final decision must be taken by the authority and no one has a right to challenge their decision.
