CUCET Exam

Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is jointly conducted by the 14 Central Universities, established by an Act of Parliament and the Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act of 1960 for admission to various programmes. It is a national-level exam conducted once in a year for admission to UG, PG, and other courses offered by the participating universities. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria as laid by the respective university for the course they are applying for.

Marking Scheme - Each question will be of 1 mark. There will be negative marking in the paper. 0.25 mark will be deducted for each wrong response.


CUCET 2020 Syllabus

There is no prescribed syllabus for the exam. General questions based on English language, mathematical ability, general awareness, analytical skills, and reasoning will be asked. Buy a preparation book and practice from it. For the subject-related paper, students must have good knowledge of the subjects they have studied in the qualifying exam. The books of the qualifying exam will be sufficient for preparation.



CUCET Exam 2020 Eligibility

There are a total of 14 universities participating in the CUCET 2020 exam. Each university offers admission to UG, PG, and research programs. And, the eligibility criteria for each university is different. Students are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of the university they are applying for.

General Eligibility Criteria for Various Programs

UG Courses

Candidates should have passed class 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/or Biology. The minimum passing marks must be 50% for General category candidates and 45% for SC/ST category candidates.

PG Courses

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in the same field as he/she is interested in doing the PG course. A degree in some other related course will also be fine.

 Ph.D. Courses

A master’s degree in any stream with at least 55% marks for General category candidates, 50% marks for OBC category candidates, and 45% marks for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.

Those who have qualified UGC-CSIr JRF, GATE, NBHM or any other national-level exam for research are not required to appear for CUCET. However, they are to register for the exam.


CUCET Exam 2020 Application Process

The CUCET 2020 application process is scheduled to begin in the second week of March 2020 and will end in the second week of April 2020. Candidates are advised to submit the application form well in time. Here are the step-by-step application process and list of important things required for filling the CUCET application form.

Steps to Fill the CUCET 2020 Application Form

The CUCET 2020 application form can be completed in the following steps:

  • Registration
  • Completing the Application Form
  • Uploading Scanned Images
  • Course Registration
  • Application Fee Payment

Registration

  • Visit the official website - https://cucetexam.in.
  • Click on the link for the application.
  • Enter the details such as the name of the candidate, email ID, mobile number, date of birth, and password.
  • After successful registration, candidates will receive the application ID in their registered email ID and mobile number.
  • The application Id and password are the log-in details. Keep them safe.

Completing the Application Form

  • After registration, log-in using the ID and password.
  • Enter your personal details such as father’s name, gender, category, nationality, etc.
  • Also, provide academic details such as the name of the board, passing year, marks obtained, percentage marks, etc.
  • Details such as GATE score (if applicable), address, exam centre, etc are also required to be filled.
  • Check all the details carefully and save them to move to the next step.

Uploading Scanned Images

  • Upload the scanned images of your photograph and signature in the space provided.
  • After a successful upload, move to the next step.

Course Registration

  • Candidates are required to register for the course in three participating universities.

CUCET Exam Application Fee Payment -

After completing the application details, proceed toward the application fee payment. The fee can be paid both offline and online. Select the mode of payment and follow the steps. The category-wise fee details are as follows:

CUCET 2020 Admit Card

The CUCET 2020 admit card will be released in the first week of May 2020 at the official website. Candidates can download the same using their log-in details. The admit cards comprise of details such as application number, candidate’s name, exam date, exam timing, exam centre address, course applied for, etc. Check all the details carefully before downloading the admit card. If you find any mistakes, report the same to the exam conducting authority. The CUCET admit card is a mandatory document for appearing in the exam as well as the counselling process. So, candidates must keep the admit card safe till the admission process gets over.

CUCET 2020 Answer Key

The CUCET 2020 provisional answer key will be released in the fourth week of May 2020 and the final answer key will be released in the first week of June 2020. The answer key helps in determining the estimated scores for the exam. Candidates can also raise objections against the provisional answer key. The same will be updated in the final answer key.

CUCET 2020 Result

The CUCET 2020 result will be declared in the third week of June 2020. The result will be uploaded on the official website. Candidates re required to log-in using their application ID and password to access their result. The result has the score obtained by the candidates and the qualifying status of the candidate. Each university will prepare its merit list and the seats will be allotted on the basis of the merit rank.

CUCET 2020 Counselling

The CUCET 2020 counselling process will be held offline in the fourth week of September 2020. No centralized counselling will be held. Each university will conduct its counselling on the basis of the merit list. Check the counselling notification on the official website of the respective university. Candidates need to carry the following important documents (in original and photocopy) to the counselling:
