JEE Main CSAB NEUT Counselling 2020 - All You Need To Know

JEE Main CSAB NEUT Counselling is the Central Seat Allotment Board for the North Eastern States and Union Territories. The North Eastern states and Union Territories in the county have fewer options in terms of engineering/technical education colleges. So, the Government of India offers admission to candidates belonging from these states in the top Engineering/Architecture/Pharmacy colleges across the country at the reserved seats.

With the aim of ensuring fair admission, the CSAB conducts the seat allotment/counselling process. Candidates must note that these seats are separate from the JoSAA and CSAB special counselling. Qualifying the JEE Main exam with rank is must for participating in the JEE Main CSAB NEUT counselling as the seat will be allotted on the basis of JEE Main AIR rank.

CSAB NEUT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

For admission through CSAB NEUT 2020 counselling process, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Domicile - Candidate must belong to any one of the 8 North-Eastern states and 4 Union Territories.

JEE Main - It is mandatory to qualify the JEE Main exam and secure a valid rank.

Academic Qualification - Should have completed 10+2 level of education with at least 75% (for general category) and 65% (for SC/ST category) or they must be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12th examination in their respective boards. The aggregate marks will be calculated by considering the marks of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and language subject.

For Spot Round - The candidates must have secured 45% aggregate in class 12th (40% for SC/ST) for B.Tech. admission and 50% aggregate marks for B.Arch/B.Plan admission.

JEE Main CSAB NEUT 2020 - Procedure for Seat Allotment

The seat allotment process comprises of the following stages:

  • Online registration
  • Verification of domicile and category certificates by state centres, finalization of registration
  • Online choice filling, saving and locking
  • Online Seat Allotment
  • Personal reporting to a Reporting Center with documents and Demand Draft towards counselling fees
  • Personal reporting to the allotted institutes for final admission

Online Registration

  • Visit the official website - www.csab.nic.in.
  • Look for the registration link under the ‘CSAB NEUT 2020’ section.
  • Click on the link and enter our JEE Main roll number and password for registration.

After the verification of domicile and category certificates by state centres, the registration will be final.

Online choice filling, saving and locking

Now, the registered candidates are required to fill the choices for their preferred college and discipline. Candidates will be guided with appropriate instructions throughout the process. Candidates can edit the choices as many times as they want before locking them. Do lock the choices before the last date. And, please note - ‘Saving’ a choice is not ‘Locking a choice.

Online Seat Allotment

The choices submitted by the applicants are processed and seats are allotted as per JEE Main merit. The list of setas allotted will be uploaded at the official website. Candidates will be provided with three options - Float, Slide, and Freeze. They are required to apply any one of the options to the seat allotted to them. Here’s what the options mean:

Option-I (Float): Candidates want to be considered in the upcoming round for higher preference choices.

Option-II (Slide): Candidates wish to be considered for higher preference choices (in terms of branch/discipline) within the allotted college.

Option-III (Freeze): Candidates are happy with the seat/college allotted. Such candidates will not be considered for further rounds of seat allotment.

Candidates are required to personally report at the state reporting centre for document verification. Carry the demand draft for counselling fee (₹ 3000/-).

After the allotment of provisional admission letter, candidates who have ‘frozen’ their choices are required to report at the allotted college/institution to confirm the admission and pay the course fee. Others have to wait for the result of second round counselling and then report at the finally allotted college.

As per the previous year’s information bulletin; “The allotment of seats to candidates who do not report physically within the stipulated period to the allotted institute will be cancelled. ”

Documents Required at the Time of Reporting

Carry the following documents in original and a set of photocopies at the time of reporting:

  • CSAB allotment letter
  • Demand draft/NEFT receipt in favour of the allotted college for the fee
  • 5 passport size photographs
  • Photo ID proof
  • JEE Main admit card
  • JEE Main scorecard
  • Class X Marksheet
  • Class XII Marksheet
  • School/College leaving certificate
  • Migration certificate
