There is an excellent growth opportunity in this field. An air-hostess and flight steward are required to oversee everything related to passengers after boarding and before de-boarding of the flight. After completion of the course, a candidate gets an opportunity to work with domestic airlines. Experienced air-hostess/ flight steward works with international airlines also. In the domestic sector, as per regulations, no air-hostess/ flight attendant can fly for more than 12 hours, in any period of 24 consecutive hours. The rest time should be twice the last flight time or 8 hours whichever is greater. While in the case of the international sector, no air-hostess/ flight steward can fly for more than 11 hours without a rest period, in any period of 24 consecutive hours. They can be called for their next international flight only after rest time of 22 hours. Both of them get a handsome salary by airlines. On a brighter side, they also get the opportunity to meet various famous people during their working hours. Often they find cine stars, politicians and business tycoons travelling in their flight.

Air-hostess/ Flight Steward Salary

Initially, an air-hostess salary is between the range of ₹25,000 - ₹40,000 per month, which later on increases to ₹80,000 to ₹125,000. Flight steward gets the same salary. In international airlines, they get even more salaries compared to domestic airlines.

On good work, they are promoted from being an air-hostess or flight steward to the Senior flight attendant and then as Head Attendant.

Air Hostess/ Flight Steward Application Process

Interested and eligible aspirants can directly apply with different airlines (both domestic and international) by filling up an application form released by the respective airlines. The shortlisted candidates would further be notified to appear for the screening process. Those who make it to the next level would be called for the Main Exam to display their personality, language fluency, communication skills, confidence and their take on an adverse situation. Clearing all the rounds would get them their dream job. The selected candidates would then be trained and educated for six months by the airlines before their real job starts.
