The 11th National Biennial Competition is introduced by the National Innovation Foundation for Green Grassroots pioneer. The foundation offers its brilliant services for past 10 years in the field of Science and Technology. Every year the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India runs this fellowship program to identify the talented innovators of the society and reward their talent.

11th National Biennial Competition for Green Grassroots 2018 aims to unveil the hidden creativity and uplift the position of agriculture in India. The organization works with an objective of recognizing, and respecting traditional knowledge experts and grassroots industrial innovators. The contest helps to find out the best way to encourage young budding candidates and send their original ideas in front of the organization. Applicants can submit their entry on or before 31 March 2019 via offline mode only.

The National Innovation Foundation is a self-regulating body, which conducts the competition to develop and inspire school students to send their innovative ideas to the organizer’s committee. Only meritorious students will be selected who have the capability to present their skills and inventions in front of media.

About the Scholarship:

The 11th National Biennial Competition offers an opportunity and invites students to present their work in the fields of agriculture, processes or products for farm/ non-farm operations, machines, household utility, reduction in drudgery, energy conservation or generation, transportation, development of plant varieties, development of herbal remedies for human or animal problems or any other low cost sustainable green technologies.

Highlights of the Scholarship Scheme:

  • Applicants can apply as an individual or group of artisans, farmers, women and fishermen, slum dwellers, students or local communities etc.
  • Physically Challenged students can also apply for the competition.
  • The last date to apply for the scholarship scheme is 31 March 2019.

Scholarship Amount:

The scholarship will be awarded to the meritorious candidate in different categories as follows:

  1. The best three ideas will be honored with an amount of ₹ 5 lakhs (National First), ₹ 3 lakhs (National Second) and ₹ 1 lakh as (National Third).
  2. The organization also provides a Life Time Achievement Award worth of ₹ 7 lakhs for the brilliant students with demonstrated lifelong creativity.
  3. Several consolation prizes of ₹ 10,000 each will also be given to the various categories depending upon the potential environmental and social impact and incremental inventiveness.
  4. Besides these, three most outstanding ideas may also get award prizes worth of ₹ 50,000, 25,000 and 15,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students who can apply-

  • An applicant should be a young innovator or inventors up to class 12 are eligible to apply.
  • Must be an individual or group of fishermen and women, farmers, artisans, students or slum dwellers.
  • Students who have designed their invention without any help of the former institution can also apply. 
  • Students of arts and commerce, ITI students and school dropouts are also considered.

Note: A creative idea which is not yet become a product is also eligible.

 

Students who are not eligible

  • Entries from professionals or postgraduate students are not accepted.
  • Applicants who are enrolled in biotechnology, engineering or any other professional courses cannot apply for the scholarship program.

Application Process:

Interested candidates can apply for the scholarship scheme either individually or in a group.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Present your idea on a plain paper and write down the technical details of your invention.
  2. Make sure to mention the origin of your traditional knowledge
  3. Attach necessary supporting photos, videos or sketches along with your application.
  4. Attach educational qualification certificates.
  5. Mention your postal address with a pin code and contact number.
