The Human Resource Development Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar while addressing the student’s congregation said that soon there will be a ‘Prime Minister Scholarship’ scheme. Under this scheme, the beneficiary students will be given ₹75,000 per month. This scheme is drafted to identify the ‘best minds’ among the students and prevent the brain-drain phenomena of the nation.
Taking a critical view of the brain-drain process which results in the irreversible loss of intellectual resource of the nation, he said that it needs to be stopped urgently. Every year thousands of highly qualified Indian students run abroad for better career scope. But, it is ultimately a loss to a nation.
Now every year under the Prime Minister Scholarship scheme, 1000 best minds will be identified across various institutions and colleges through a well- designed selection process. They will be given ₹75,000 per month to carry on their research. It is expected to encourage the innovations in the nation.
As soon as the cabinet will give its nod for the draft of this scholarship, it will be notified across all the major newspapers.
