SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2018 – Exam to be Held in 4 Tiers

In a recent survey conducted by Exams Planner where we asked more than 200 students in Delhi/NCR about their career aims. We were pretty surprised to find that over 70% of participants showed their interests in taking SSC exams and become a government employee. And obviously, why wouldn’t they dream? Because the Staff Selection Commission conducts various examinations like SSC CGL, SSC MTSSSC JESSC SI CAPF and SSC CHSL that pave the way towards various coveted government jobs.

SSC CGL exam is undoubtedly one of the highly sought after examinations conducted for recruitment of Divisional Accountant, Assistant Accounts Officer, Jr. Statistical Officer, Assistant Section Officer, Sub-Inspector, Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner), Assistant Enforcement Officer, Auditor, Assistant Audit Officer, Inspector of Posts, Accountant/Jr Accountant, Sr. Secretariat Assistant, Assistants Inspector Assistant/Superintendent Inspector (Central Excise) and Tax Assistant.

The SSC CGL 2018 preliminary exam will begin in August-September 2018. The Staff Selection Commission announced the SSC CGL 2018 notification in May. The last date to apply for the exam was 4th June 2018.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern:

The exam will be conducted in 4 tiers or stages –

  • SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier I is an online test where candidates will get objective multiple choice type questions
  • SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier II is an online test where candidates will get objective multiple choice type questions
  • SSC CGL Exam 2018 III is a pen and paper-based test. Students will get descriptive type questions in Hindi and English
  • SSC CGL Exam 2018 IV is a computer skill test. This will check the candidates’ proficiency in computer.

SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier I Exam Pattern:

There is a negative marking scheme for every wrong answer. 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier IV Exam Pattern:

Tier-IV is a computer skill test. It will put the candidates through a computer test process that will be done in two phases – DEST Test and CPT Test. DEST Test makes the exam-takers type a 200-word passage in English in 15 minutes. CPT Test checks the candidates’ proficiency in the generation of slides, spreadsheets and word processing.
