CSAB Special Round Counselling - Seat Allotment Procedure
Central Seat Allocation Board conducts the CSAB special round counselling for admission to Engineering/ Technology courses offered at National Institute of Technology (NITs), International Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). The special round counselling process is conducted after all the rounds of JoSAA counselling are complete. It is conducted for admission on vacant seats after the JoSAA counselling. Who Can apply for CSAB Special Round Counselling?
For appearing in the special round counselling, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria for CSAB Special Round Counselling 2020 -
- Candidates should have qualified JEE Main 2020 exam.
- Candidates who are not allotted any seat during JoSAA counselling or those who didn’t appear for the JoSAA counselling can also participate in CSAB special counselling.
- Those who have been allotted seats during the JoSAA counselling but opted for participation in the CSAB special round counselling are also eligible.
- Those who do not opt to participate in CSAB special round counselling at the time of reporting at the allotted college (during JoSAA counselling) are not eligible for CSAB special round counselling.
CSAB Special Round Counselling Process
The detailed process for CSAB Special Round Counselling is as under:
Registration
Visit the official CSAB website and register for the counselling using your JEE Main 2020 application number and password.
The details will be taken from the JEE Main application form. Candidates are required to upload the scanned images of the following documents:
- Marksheet of class 12th
- Certificate of class 10th
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
- Passport/ OCI/ PIO card (for NRI/ PIO/ OCI candidates)
The information provided at the time of registration cannot be changed. Thus, candidates must fill the form with the utmost care.
Counselling Fee Payment
Pay the counselling participation fee for CSAB special round through online mode. The fee can be paid through credit card/ debit card or internet banking. The fee details are as under:

Online Choice Filling and Locking
After fee payment, fill the choices for colleges in order of your preference from the available list. You can edit the choices until they are locked. Once the choices are final, lock them before the last date.
Seat Allotment Result
The counselling authority releases the seat allotment result on the official website. Login using your details and check the status of CSAB special seat allotment result. Candidates can exercise the options viz. - freeze, float, slide, surrender and participate in the next round, surrender and don’t participate in next round. Candidates to whom no seat is allotted in round one can also select the option of not participating in the round two counselling.
Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee
Those who have been allotted seats in the special round must pay the seat acceptance fee to confirm admission. The fee has to be paid only through online mode. The fee details are as under:

Document Verification/ Reporting at the Allotted Institute
Those who have selected the Freeze, Float, or Slide option after round one and have paid the seat acceptance fees, their documents will be verified online by the allotted institute. The candidates must keep checking their status at the official portal. Those who have selected ‘Freeze’ option must report at the allotted college after document verification to confirm the admission. Those who have selected ‘Slide’ or ‘Float’ are not required to report at the allotted college at this stage. They will be allotted seats in the second round. If they accept the same, they must report at the allotted college. Candidates are also required to carry their qualification documents and other documents in original at the time of reporting at the allotted college.
