The CAT Exam 2017 is already over. The B-School aspirants had already appeared for this national level entrance test on 26th November. Now they are waiting for the result with one common question on their minds – how much percentile is enough to secure a seat in top IIMs?
As per the popular concept obtaining 90+ is good enough to cross the first hurdle of the selection process. Two other factors for the final selection are academic performance and the performance in interview.
The IIM admission process is a three tier process. In the first tier, the candidates appear for the Computer based exam of 300 marks. The shortlisted candidates are invited for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) round. And in the final round the candidates are selected on the basis of the every area CAT score, academic record, extracurricular activities, work experience, performance in PI/GD/WAT round.
Sufficient Percentile for IIM admission:
The CAT exam cut off depends on three main factors; level of difficulty of the exam, number of total candidates and number of seats. You can easily assume the fact that the higher level of competition will make the cut off percentile lower. Every IIM has its different admission criteria along with cut off. Various IIMs have already released the CAT Exam 2017 cut off in their respective website. You can have a look here to check the sufficient percentile.
