One of the most reputed entrance exam on national level in Fashion Designing is NIFT Exam. The NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), Mumbai conducts entrance exam every year across many cities to select candidates for admission in various UG and PG courses of Fashion.

Eligibility for NIFT Exam

The candidate should fulfill certain criteria to become eligible for the exam.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Course

  • In order to pursue M.Des and MFM programme candidate should have done his graduation from any recognized University or Board. Candidates who are in the final year are also eligible to appear for the exam
  • In order to pursue M.F Tech the candidate should have done his Bachelor’s in B.F Tech or B.Tech from any recognized University or Board.
  • There is no age limit for the NIFT Exam.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Course

  • The candidate should not be more than 23 years in age by October 1st, 2017. However there is an age relaxation of 5 years given to the reserved category candidate.
  • Student must have done his 12th standard or equivalent from any recognized University or Board.
  • Those candidates who have diploma of 3 or 4 years are also eligible to apply for the exam.

NIFT Exam Admission Process

Candidate can get the application form online only. There is no any other mode to get the application form. It can be obtained from November 2nd, 2016 to January 10th, 2017. Candidate should get himself registered first to get the access to the application form. After filling the application form candidate should pay the requisite application fee and then make the final submission.

How To Apply

  • Candidate should visit the official website of the NIFT, www.nift.ac.in or http://applyadmission.net/NIFT2017.
  • The candidate should register himself on the NIFT website. He should give his basic details like name, address, email id and mobile number for registration.
  • Upon successful registration candidate will be given Registration id with login id and password.
  • By entering these details candidate will be able to access the application form.
  • He should fill all the necessary columns of the application form. He should give his details like name, address, educational qualifications, email id and mobile number.
  • A candidate should also upload the scanned copies of his Photograph and Signature in the JPEG format. The size should not exceed 50 Kb.
  • Along with the application form pay the application fee. The application fee can be paid through the online as well as the offline mode.
  • Before submitting the application form candidate should check it to make corrections for any error.

It is important to pay the application fee. Without application fee no form will be accepted.

  • The application fee can be paid either through the Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.

Exam Pattern for NIFT 2017

  • For all undergraduate and Post-Graduate courses there will be a Pen and Paper based exam of GAT (General Ability Test) and CAT (Creative Ability Test).
  • For M.F Tech and B.F Tech there will be a Computer based exam.
  • In the B. Des and M. Des there will be a Pen and a Paper based test for CAT and GAT. The CAT will have 70% weightage while the GAT will have 30% weightage in the overall exam.

Admit Card for NIFT 2017-

Candidates can get their admit card online. They can download it from the official website of the NIFT. Admit Card contains the name, roll number, details of venue of exam centre and date and time of the exam. It is mandatory to bring the admit card at the centre of the exam. Without admit Card candidates will not be allowed to take up their exam.

Result Declaration

After the written test successful candidates will be required to take the Group Discussion/ Interview. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by candidate in the written test and the group discussion. Thereafter candidates will be called for counselling and allocation of seats will be made in different colleges.
