Certificate Courses

Certificate courses in fashion designing are short courses generally of 3, 6 or 12 months duration. The eligibility criterion for such courses is 10+2 or any equivalent exam from a recognised board. Eligibility for Fashion Designing -

For most of the fashion designing courses, you require senior secondary level education. The eligibility for fashion designing course varies from the type, of course, you enrol in. Following are the details:

  • The minimum requirement for a certificate or diploma course is 10+2.
  • 10+2 is also the eligibility requirement for undergraduate courses. The minimum marks requirement is different as per the institute’s criteria.
  • For post-graduate courses, bachelor’s degree in fashion designing is required. Some institutes require graduation degree in any stream.

Fashion Designing Entrance Examinations:

All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED)

ARCH Academy of Design conducts the All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED) for admission to U.G. and P.G. courses in design. The exam is conducted in both online and offline mode. The exam is conducted in two phases; General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). The first one is compulsory for all while the second one is only for admission in U.G. courses. The scorecard of AIEED remains valid for 1 year.

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED)

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay conducts the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). Qualifying the exam offers admission to Master’s programmes (MDes) at IIT Bombay, IISc Banglore, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, IIITDM Jabalpur and UPES Dehradun and PhD programmes at IIT Bombay, IISc Bangalore, IIT Kanpur and IIT Hyderabad. The score of the CEED exam remains valid for a 1 year from the date of result declaration.

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Examination

The National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts NIFT Entrance Exam for admission into undergraduate and post-graduate designing courses offered by the institute. Candidates can also secure a seat directly into the second year of BDes (Bachelor of Design) and BFTech (Bachelor of Fashion Technology). For this, a written test called NIFT Lateral Entry Admission (NLEA) is conducted.

National Institute of Design (NID) Aptitude Test

Qualifying the NID Aptitude Test is the criteria for admission into Bachelor (BDEs) and Master (MDes) programmes offered by the National Institute of Design (NID). The exam is conducted in two phases; Prelims and Mains. Only those candidates who qualify the Prelims can appear in the Mains. The Prelims is a written exam while the Mains consist of a Studio Test and Interview round.

Pearl Academy of Fashion Entrance Examination
