Education Ministry Directs NTA To Create New Syllabus For NEET, JEE Main 2021 Exam

NTA is all set to make a new syllabus pattern for JEE Main, NEET 2021 entrance exam under the direction of Education Ministry.

The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to prepare a fresh syllabus for the competitive examinations including JEE Main and NEET for the 2021 session. Both the exams are conducted for the admissions to the Engineering and Medical Courses in the country. According to reports, the National Testing Agency will assess the situation across the different states and central school education boards before finalizing the syllabus.

Due to the disruption in the academic calendar caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) along with the different state boards have decided to reduce the syllabus by 30 percent for the class 10 and 12 board examinations.

Education Minister’s Statement for NEET, JEE Main 2021 Syllabus

The Education Ministry has stated that the NTA will review the present situation caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and has asked NTA to come out with the syllabus for competitive examinations. In addition to this, the ministry will also be launching a campaign seeking views from the parents and teachers on conducting the board exams next year.

JEE Main January 2021 To Get Postponed

The National Testing Agency has earlier stated that the first session on JEE Main 2021 exams is expected to be conducted in February 2021 instead of the usual January 2021. The delay has been made due to the late academic session of 2020, due to coronavirus impact. The application process for the same is expected to commence from next month onwards, however, the exam dates for the NEET 2021 examinations are yet awaited as the exams are usually conducted in May.

NEET 2021 Exam Date Is Still Awaited

Every year, NTA conducts NEET UG exam on the first Sunday of May, however for the 2021 session the exam is likely to be delayed due to the rising cases of coronavirus. An official notification regarding NEET exam date 2021 is still awaited. On the other hand, CBSE is expected to release the date sheets for the 2021 board examinations soon. Clarity on the format of the examination and whether the exams will be held in February-March, as usual, is yet to be determined.
