JIPMER PG Exam

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, offers admissions to its 100 seats in Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) courses every year. An entrance exam is conducted twice a year for admission to the January and July sessions. As of now the online application process for the January session exam has started. JIPMER PG 2020 Latest Update - The application process for the JIPMER PG Counselling 2020 has been started from 21st July 2020. Candidates can check the complete JIPMER 2020 MD/MS Counselling schedule at the official website. This year, the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research has decided to complete the JIPMER PG Medical Counselling via online mode.  Candidates are required to complete the registration, Choice filling process through the official link available.

After the registration and Choice Filling process is completed, a mock allotment round will be conducted to give the candidates an idea of how the allotment will be conducted based on the choices entered. For the first round of allotment, registered candidates can re-edit/modify/delete their filled preferences.

JIPMER PG Exam 2020 Pattern & Syllabus

The JIPMER PG exam will be conducted through online mode as a Computer Based Test (CBT). It will be a single session exam of 3 hours duration. The exam is common for all courses and comprises of 250 MCQs. The questions are distributed as under:

JIPMER PG Exam 2020 Eligibility

Candidates must read the eligibility criteria for JIPMER PG exam carefully before applying for the exam. Here are the details about eligibility criteria:

Nationality

  • Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are eligible for the exam. Foreign Nationals candidates are required to send their application through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
  • All Foreign Nationals are required to take permission from the Medical Council of India before applying for the PG exam.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have MBBS or equivalent degree from any institute recognised by the Medical Council of India. The minimum qualifying marks in the degree must be 55% aggregate marks for General and OBC categories and 50% aggregate marks for SC/ST categories. For the OPH category candidates, marks as per the category they belong to will be applicable.


JIPMER PG Exam 2020 Application Process

The application process for the JIPMER PG exam was conducted in between 04th March to 18th May 2020. The application process is online and candidates must submit the application form only through the official website. Applications will not be accepted through any other mode.

Steps to Fill the JIPMER PG 2020 Application Form

Follow the steps to fill the application form:

  • Go to the official website - www.jipmer.edu.in.
  • Click on the link “Apply online MD/MS admission - January 2020 session” on home-page.
  • Read the instructions and click on the ‘Close’ button.
  • Enter the applicant name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and captcha code.
  • Click the ‘Register’ button.
  • The registration ID and password will be sent to the registered email ID.
  • Log-in using the details and complete the application form.
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature.
  • Make fee payment and take print of the confirmation form.

The application fee must be paid using net banking/ credit card/ debit card. No other mode of payment will be accepted for fee payment. Category-wise distribution of application fee is as under:

JIPMER PG 2020 Exam Admit Card

JIPMER PG 2020 admit card can be downloaded via official website only from 06th June to 21st June 2020. Candidates can download the admit card using their registration ID and password. The hall ticket will contain the name of the candidate, date of birth, photo, signature, roll number, etc. The official notification states; “The venue, time and shift of the examination will be communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card.” It further states, “No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination unless he/she holds a valid "Hall Ticket" and a proof of their identification.”

JIPMER PG 2020 Exam Result

JIPMER PG 2020 exam result for July session was announced on 27th June 2020. The list of candidates who qualify for the counselling process is also available at the official website. The marks/ scores of the individual candidate will also be uploaded at the official website. The following merit lists are prepared on the basis of the JIPMER PG scores:

JIPMER PG 2020 Exam Counselling

The list of candidates who qualify for the counselling process is released along with the result. Candidates are required to appear for the counselling process in order to get admission. The registration for the counselling process is done online. The counselling process is conducted in four rounds. Candidates are required to opt for their preferred discipline. Candidates are required to report at the college at the given date and time along with the required documents.

As per the released schedule provided by the JIPMER, the counselling process has commenced from 22nd July to the complete month of August 2020. Candidates need to complete the registration process and Choice Filling process.

After this, a mock allotment round will be conducted to give the candidates an idea of how the allotment will be conducted based on the choices entered. This year, a batch of 30 students each will be called for the counselling process due to the COVID-19 crisis.
