IPU CET Exam 2020 Pattern & Syllabus

The University will conduct the exam in pen and paper mode, where the candidates will be bound to answer all the 150 questions, except for English (M.A.) in which there will be 100 MCQs for the Part I while the Part II will have essay type questions and 200 MCQs for B.Tech (Bio-Tech) CET. The applicants must choose the correct answer or the most appropriate one out of four alternatives. Each correct answer will get 4 marks; in case of a wrong answer, one mark would be deducted. The duration of the written test will be 2.30 hours for 600 marks; for B.Tech (Bio-Tech), students will have to sit for 3 hours. It will carry 800 marks. The test will be conducted in English. Syllabus for IPU CET

The IPU CET 2020 syllabus will comprise subjects including Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry based on the 10+2 syllabus. Candidates appearing for the M.Tech programmes will have to prepare as per the GATE syllabus. Each section – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics – will carry equal weightage (33%).

IPU CET Exam 2020 Eligibility

The entrance test is organised for admission to UG and PG courses in engineering, law, management, medical, etc. Each programme offered by the varsity requires a prescribed set of eligibility. Take a look at the basic eligibility conditions that an aspirant must possess –


  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Academic Qualification

  • The candidates should have passed the 12th standard or equivalent exam from a recognised Board/ University.
  • Should have scored at least 55% marks in aggregate to be eligible for the B.Tech exam.
  • Those who have done the higher secondary exam with a Diploma with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the B.Tech course.
  • Students with a B.Sc degree can also fill the application form. They should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
  • For admission to M.Tech programmes, a degree in B.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate is compulsory.

Age Limit

  • The applicant must be between 17-21 years old.

How to Apply for IPU CET Exam?

  • Visit the official website of the Indraprastha University.
  • Register for the course by providing basic details like name, address, gender, nationality, DOB, email id and mobile number.
  • Now enter academic details like qualifying exam, passing year, marks obtained, etc.
  • Click on the Agree to Terms and Conditions button and confirm the details provided.
  • A login ID and password will be generated and sent to your registered email ID.
  • Use the credentials to log in. Select the course that you want to apply.
  • The next step is to release the application fee and complete the process.
  • Upload the scanned copies of the photograph, signature and left-thumb impression.

IPU CET Exam Admit Card 2020

The Indraprastha University will release the IPU CET 2020 admit card online on 15th April 2020. The applicants will be able to download the hall tickets from the official website of IPU by entering the login credentials. On the exam day, carry two photographs along with the admit card. Keep the admit card until the admission process is over.

IPU CET 2020 Result

The University will declare the IPU CET result 2020 soon after the exam. It will be released online, and candidates can check the rank list using the login credentials. It will have the candidate’s name, category, rank, and roll number. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored by test-takers in the common entrance test. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the IPU CET counselling 2020.

IPU CET 2020 Counselling and Admission Process

Candidates are called for a three-round counselling on the basis of their marks and AIR ranks. A counselling fee of INR 1000 is charged from the registered candidates. Upon receiving an invitation, they are required to report to the counselling authority along with all the required documents on the date and venue of the scheduled counselling. The candidates are allocated seats in the colleges on the basis of their ranks, marks, their choice and the availability of the seats. The counselling process is scheduled to be carried out from 12th May to 29th 2020 July through offline mode and 18th June to 10th August 2020 through online mode.

A: Yes, it is mandatory to pay INR 1200. Forms submitted without the prescribed fee will be rejected.
