The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the notification for recruitment of Probationary Officers. It is among the most sought-after option for those looking for a banking career. In fact, it is at the top of the list of graduate banking aspirants. Thus, there is a cut-throat competition for the SBI PO exam. Candidates who desire to grab a post as a Probationary Officer in the most reputed Public Sector Bank start their preparation well before the examination. However, there are chances that some get through it in just a couple of months of study. So, here are the details for SBI PO 2018 exam pattern and syllabus for those who haven’t started their preparations yet.

SBI/IBPS PO Exam 2010 - 2017 (40 Solved Papers) - Get It Now 

The SBI PO recruitment process is conducted in three phases:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Group Discussion and Interview

The Preliminary examination is scheduled to be held on 1st, 7th, and 8th July while the Main examination will be held 4th August 2018.

Here are the pattern and syllabus for SBI PO preliminary and main phases. The Bank has not mentioned any official syllabus. Thus, the syllabus provided here is the result of previous years’ question papers analysis.

SBI PO 2018 Preliminary Exam Pattern

Preliminary phase exam is of maximum 100 marks and questions are asked from the following sections. There is a section-wise division of time. Thus, candidates are required to answer the question in the given time.

Syllabus for SBI PO 2018 Preliminary Exam

English Language

Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para Jumbles, Error Spotting, Fill in the Blanks.

Quantitative Aptitude

Data Interpretation, Simplification, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Speed, Time, & Distance, Probability, Problem on Trains, Mensuration, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Mixtures, and Problems on Ages.

Reasoning Ability

Liner Arrangement, Seating Arrangement, Circular Arrangement, Data Arrangement, Mathematical Inequalities, Puzzles, Directions & Distances, Blood Relations.

SBI PO 2018 Main Exam Pattern

The Main examination consists of Objective Test of maximum 200 marks and a Descriptive Test of 50 marks. Both the tests will be online. Here is the exam pattern:

The descriptive test is of 30 minutes where candidates are required to answer 2 questions (Letter Writing & Essay) by typing on the computer.
