GATE 2020 Deadline Extended, Apply Till 28th September 2019

The online GATE 2020 registration form has been released by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi by 1st September 2019. Candidates who are interested to fill the online application form for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 exam can explore the official website which is gate.iitd.ac.in to submit their entry. Candidates must remind that they are eligible to submit applications for GATE 2020 till 28th September 2019 without any late fee. More than this, one can submit the GATE 2020 application form with late fee on or before 1st October 2019. Latest Notification for GATE 2020 Application Form –
As per the released notification, the IIT Delhi extends the GATE 2020 registration deadline to 28th September 2019. The decision was made due to heavy traffic on IIT Delhi’s website that makes the website completely crashed. It’s a golden opportunity for those candidates who haven’t applied yet for GATE 2020 examination. Candidates are advised to visit the IIT Delhi official website i.e. iitd.ac.in or gate.iitd.ac.in to fill the online application form for GATE 2020. More than this, the last date to submit the GATE 2020 application form with a late fee of ₹ 500 is 01st October 2019.
GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) located at Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Guwahati, Madras, and Roorkee. But from now onwards, IIT Delhi takes up the command and will conduct GATE 2020 examination on 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th February 2020.

Documents required for filling the GATE application form
Candidates are advised to keep the following documents ready before filling the GATE 2020 application form. This will help in filling the form in one go.
- A valid ID proof such as PAN Card, Passport, Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving License, College ID, or Employee ID. Candidate needs to fill the details of any one of the ID documents in the online application form and carry the same in original to the examination hall on the day of examination along with the GATE 2020 admit card.
- A valid email Id and working mobile number (personal). All updates related to the exam will be notified through email/SMS.
- Scanned image of the candidate’s recent passport size photograph. As per the official notification, the photograph must be coloured taken after 1st August 2019 in a professional studio. The photograph should be in JPEG format in standard dimensions 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm (Width x Height). The maximum resolution of the scanned image should be 480x640 pixels, and the minimum resolution should be 240x320 pixels.
- Scanned image of the candidate’s signature in JPEG format. Maximum image resolution should be 160x560 pixels, and minimum image resolution should be 80x280 pixels. Check out detailed Photograph and Signature requirements.
- Scanned image of Eligibility Certificate in PDF format. The format for Provision certificate is given in ‘Appendix A’ of the official notification.
- Scanned image of category certificate (SC/ST) (if applicable) in PDF format
- Scanned image of PWD certificate (if applicable) in PDF format
- Scanned image of the Dyslexic certificate (if applicable) in PDF format
- Details of Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.
- Decide on the choices for GATE examination cities.
- Address for correspondence (including PIN)
GATE 2020 Application Process
GATE 2020 application process will be ONLINE and candidates have to submit the form only through the official GOAPS portal. Here is the step-by-step application form filling process for the exam which can be completed in two parts:

Registering for GATE 2019 Exam
- Go to the official website of IIT Delhi - http://gate.iitd.ac.in/.
- Click on ‘Click here to apply online’ button on the home-page.
- You will be redirected to the GOAPS portal, which is the only official portal for GATE online application submission. GOAPS stands for GATE Online Application Processing System. All communication related to the GATE exam such as for admit card availability, result announcement, etc. will be exchanged here.
- Click on ‘New User? Register Here’ link on the bottom of the page.
- Enter your name as mentioned on your qualifying degree certificate. Do not use any prefix/title such as Mr/Mrs/Shri/Smt/Dr, etc. before your name. GATE score card will be issued as per the name entered here.
- Click on ‘Confirm’ button and enter details such as email id, mobile number, country of residence, and set a password.
- Check the information and click on ‘Submit’ button.
- You will receive the enrolment ID through SMS and email message on successful registration.
Filling the GATE Application Form
- Go to the GOAPS login window - https://appsgate.iitm.ac.in/
- Enter your enrollment ID, password, and solve the arithmetic expression.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- Complete the application form by filling details such as personal details, qualifying degree details, exam details (paper, country, city), etc.
- Upload scanned images of documents such as photo, signature, eligibility documents, and category certificates (if applicable).
- Save all the details and view the application form. If any information is incorrect; edit it, else proceed to payment option.
- Choose from the payment options available and continue the process.
- After final submission, download the completed GATE application form and take a print out.

Important Note: Any changes in the paper/subject elected for GATE 2020 examination will not be permitted after the submission of the application form. Candidates must submit only one application form as they are permitted to appear for only one paper. If more than one application forms are submitted, only one form will be considered, and the application fee for the other forms will not be refunded.
GATE 2020 Application Fee
The application fee can be paid online through net banking, debit card, or credit card. The application fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. Additional bank charges/processing charges are to be paid by the candidate. Here are the details of GATE 2020 application fee:

Application Scrutiny and Correction
Application forms submitted for GATE 2020 exam will be scrutinised for uploaded documents viz. scanned images of photograph, signature, and eligibility document. Any defects in the application form will be intimated to the candidates through email/SMS and can be corrected within the stipulated time. You can check the status of your application anytime at the GOAPS portal.

There is no age limit for GATE 2020 examination.

GATE 2019 examination will be conducted for 24 papers/subjects and candidates can appear only for one paper/subject. The exam will be conducted through online mode where a total of 65 questions will be asked carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The total duration of the Computer Based Test will be 3 hours. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions will be asked in all the papers. There will be negative marking for wrong answers in MCQs; however, no negative marking in NAT questions.
GATE 2019 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

GATE 2019 Scorecard
GATE 2020 scorecard will be made available on the GOAPS portal in the month of March 2020. The scorecards will remain available until May 2020. Candidates who require the soft copy of their GATE scorecard after May and till December 2020, can obtain the same by paying ? 500/-. No hard copy of the GATE scorecard will be sent to any candidate.
