UPDGME extended the registration date for 2nd round counselling of NEET. Document verification process has also been halted after Madras HC orders.

18 July 2018: The Directorate General of Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh (UPDGME) has extended the registration date for the 2nd round counselling of UP NEET. This is the second time that DGME is extending the deadline for the second round counselling. Earlier, it was extended till 16th July and now the deadline has been extended to 18 July 2018.

As per an official notification, “The online registration date is further extended up to 18th July 2018.”

DOCUMENT VERIFICATION PROCESS HALTED

Along with the extension of the deadline, UPDGME has also halted the document verification process in accordance with the notice published on the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee on 12 July. The notice released by DGME states,

“Document verification for the second counselling is put on hold till further notice.”

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has halted the second round of All India Quota (AIQ) counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) after the Madras High Court ordered CBSE to prepare a new merit list after granting grace marks to those who have appeared for the medical entrance exam in Tamil language in lieu of errors in translation of 49 questions.

CBSE has challenged the Madras High Court orders in the Supreme Court saying that as per the NEET 2018 official notification in case of discrepancies in the regional language question papers, the English version will be considered final.

There is no update on the case hearing date in the Supreme Court. However, students are hopeful that the case will be sorted soon and the counselling process will begin.

NEET – TWICE A YEAR FROM 2019

The Human Resource Development Ministry has recently made an announcement for the formation of the National Testing Agency (NTA) which will be relieving CBSE from the responsibility of conducting various competitive exams. Now, exams like NEET, JEE Main, UGC NET, etc. will be conducted by NTA twice a year from 2019.
