Good News! UGC Revised/ Increased Fellowship for JRF and SRF

The UGC has revised the fellowship amount details for JRF and SRF in Science, Social Sciences and Humanities.

New Delhi/ 04.06.2019: In a recent notification, the national higher education regulator – the University Grant Commission – has revised the fellowship amount details for JRF and SRF in Science, Social Sciences and Humanities. UGC has given much-needed hike in Junior Research Fellowship and Senior Research Fellowship. As per the revised notification, JRF and SRF will be awarded ₹ 31,000/- and ₹ 35,000/- respectively.

Public Notice of UGC

As per the public notice published by the University Grant Commission, “The University Grants Commission in its 539th meeting held on February 26th, 2019, considered and approved the revised rates of Fellowship amount under the UGC Scheme for Junior Research Fellowship/Senior Research Fellowship in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (UGC-NET).”

Previous JRF Fellowship Amount

Earlier, the JRF candidates were entitled with a fellowship of ₹ 25,000/-, while the SRF candidates received an amount of ₹ 28,000/-.

Implementation of UGC Fellowship

The revised rates of JRF and SRF fellowships are applicable with effect from 01 January 2019. The notice said, “The other terms and conditions will remain the same as per the UGC XII Plan JRF guidelines.”

UGC NET 2019

For candidates appearing in the UGC-NET 2019 June exam for the award of Junior Research Fellowship must know that the National Testing Agency (newly appointed body) would conduct the test from June 20. The exam will culminate on 28 June 2019.

UGC-NET Eligibility 2019

The aspirants should not be above 30 years. However, those with an LL.M degree will avail 3 years age relaxation in the JRF exam.
