RRB JE 2019 Exam - Paper Analysis for CBT Stage-1 (All Days)

The Railway Recruitment Board has commenced the RRB Junior Engineer (JE) 2019 exam from 22nd May. The exam city details for exams scheduled from 22nd May to 2nd June is available at the official websites of regional RRBs. And, admit cards are available for the exam from 22nd to 28th May 2019. The admit cards for all the sessions of the RRB JE exam will be released four days prior to the exam.

This post will provide the detailed analysis of the RRB JE 2019 exam so that candidates who are to appear in the upcoming sessions can get an idea about the difficulty level, number of questions, important topics etc. Before beginning, let’s have a quick look at the RRB JE selection process.

RRB JE 2019 Selection Process

The recruitment at the Junior Engineer post is done through the following stages:

  • 1st Stage Computer Based Test
  • 2nd Stage Computer Based Test
  • Document Verification
  • Medical Examination

This is the first stage of the Junior Engineer recruitment process. Here is the exam pattern for the Computer Based Test (CBT):

The provision of negative marking is applicable in the exam. 1/3rd of the marks allotted to the question will be deducted for an incorrect response.

RRB JE Paper Analysis for 1st Stage CBT (22nd May 2019)

Mathematics

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Important Topics: Maximum number of questions were asked from the topics SI/CI (4), Trigonometry (3), Mensuration (3), and Profit and Loss (3). Other topics covered in the question paper were HCF/LCM, Time and Work, Ratio and Proportion, Statistics, etc. Difference between CI and SI was also asked.

General Science

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Important Topics: Most of the questions were from Chemistry. Biology has the least number of questions. Some questions are:

  • What is the atomic number of Gold (Au)?
  • Who discovered Malaria?

General Intelligence and Reasoning

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Important Topics: Series, Analogy, Mathematical Operations, direction, coding-decoding, seating arrangement, the odd one out, etc.

General Awareness

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Important Topics: There were a total of 15 questions in the GA section from history, sports, politics, etc. Some of the questions are:

  • Which among the following is India’s national aquatic animal?
  • Who recognized ‘Fatehpur Sikri” as his capital?
  • Who was Father of Great Emperor Akbar?
  • Which among the following teams was IPL Runner up in 2017?

RRB JE Paper Analysis for 1st Stage CBT (23rd May 2019)

Mathematics

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Important Topics: Profit and Loss (4-5), Time, Speed and Distance (4-5), Time and Work (2-3), Simplification (2-3), Trigonometry (3), SI/CI (2), and Miscellaneous questions (6-7).

General Science

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Important Topics: 11-12 questions were asked from Chemistry, 9-10 from Physics, and 4-5 from Biology.

Questions:

  • Which disease is caused by mosquito bite?
  • Which is the hardest part of the human body?
  • Which of the following is the by-product of soap?
  • Most electronegative element?

General Intelligence and Reasoning

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Important Topics: Coding-Decoding, Series, Analogy, Venn Diagram, one puzzle, one seating arrangement, direction, alphabetic series, etc.

General Awareness

Difficulty Level: Easy

Important Topics: History, Geography, sports, politics, and 2018 current affairs.

Questions:

  • Bharatnatyam originate from which state?
  • Who got Bharat Ratna Award posthumously?
  • Youngest player to play in T-20 match?
  • Mahesh Bhupathi related to which sport?

Mathematics

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Important Topics: Time, Speed, and Distance (4-5), Profit and Loss (4-5), Trigonometry (3), Time and Work (2-3), Geometry (2), SI/CI (2), HCF/LCM (2), and Miscellaneous questions (6-7).

General Science

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Important Topics: Maximum number of questions were from Chemistry followed by Physics. The least number of questions were asked from Biology.

Questions:

  • Name of C3H8?
  • Ozone depletion causes due to which gas?
  • What is the SI unit of Weight?
  • What is the SI unit of power?

General Intelligence and Reasoning

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Important Topics: Coding-Decoding, Series, Venn diagram, analogy, the odd one out, statement & conclusion, alphabetical series, syllogism, direction, and mathematical operations.

General Awareness

Difficulty Level: Easy

Important Topics: Science, Geography, current affairs 2018, sports, and history.

Questions:

  • Who was the 2nd President of India?
  • Extreme Eastern state of India?
  • RAVANA-1 satellite launch by which country?

RRB JE 2nd Stage CBT

Those who qualify the first Stage CBT will be eligible for the second stage CBT. Candidates who will be selected after the final result will be appointed at the post of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant in the Indian Railway. The recruitment drive is being conducted for 13,487 vacancies.
