RRB JE Exam Pattern 2022 - Number of Questions and Total Marks

Railway Recruitment Board conducts the RRB JE Recruitment for the selection of eligible candidates for the post of Junior Engineer in various departments of the Indian Railways. The recruitment process takes around one year to complete as it has different stages. The entire RRB JE recruitment process involves three stages viz. Stage I CBT, Stage 2 CBT, and Document Verification and Medical Examination. In the article here we will be discussing the RRB JE Exam Pattern in detail.

RRB JE Exam Pattern

From the year 2019 onwards, the exam pattern for the RRB JE has been changed. Earlier, the exam was conducted in four stages - CBT 1, CBT 2, Document Verification, and Medical Examination. However, now the document verification process and medical examination have been combined in one stage. Thus, the RRB JE (from 2019 onwards) exam have the following stage:

  • First Stage CBT (Computer Based Test)
  • Second Stage CBT (Computer Based Test)
  • Document Verification & Medical Examination

RRB JE Exam Pattern for First Stage CBT

All the questions in the computer-based test will be of the multiple-choice type from the following sections:

Minimum Qualifying Marks for CBT 1 and CBT 2

The minimum qualifying marks for CBT 1 and CBT 2 varies as per different categories. Category-wise qualifying marks are as under:

RRB JE Pattern for Document Verification and Medical Examination Stage (Third Stage)

Candidates who qualify for both CBT 1 and CBT 2 are called for the Document Verification and Medical Examination. The date for the third stage of the recruitment process is announced after the result of the second stage CBT. Here is what happens in this stage.

Document Verification

Qualified candidates are required to appear for the document verification process. Candidates must carry the following documents for the DV process:

  • Class 10th Marksheet
  • Graduation degree
  • Receipt of fee payment (through cash)
  • OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Self-declaration for Ex-Serviceman
  • Income Certificate
  • Minority community Declaration
  • NOC from serving employees
  • In case of a name change, Gazetted document showcasing name change
  • Self-certification by Transgender
  • J & K Domicile Certificate
  • Decree of Divorce and affidavit mentioning the candidate has not remarried
  • In case of a widow, death certificate of husband and affidavit mentioning the candidate has not remarried.

Candidates are required to upload the documents as per the instructions of the board and also carry them while the Medical Examination process.

Medical Examination

Medical standards are different for different posts. Candidates must meet the required standards as per the post they have applied for. The details of medical standards are as follows:

  • Visual Standards - Distance Vision - 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses should not exceed 2D)
  • Near Vision - Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and candidates must pass the colour test, Field of Vision, Binocular Vision, and Night Vision

  • Physically fit in all respect
  • Visual Standards-Distance vision – 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses should not exceed 4D)
  • Near Vision – Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or while doing close work and candidates must pass colour Vision Test, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.
