ICAI Revised CA Syllabus: Included GST And CSR For May 2018 Exam

ICAI revised CA syllabus including GST and CSR. Topics such as service tax, excise duty and VAT are deleted.

9 August, 2017: On Tuesday, during a session, the parliament was informed about the changes made by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in its education and training system. The syllabus of Chartered Accountancy (CA) course was revised including topics such as Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) completed its 68 years of service on 1 July, 2017 and celebrated it as the 'Chartered Accountants Day'. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the revised syllabus in an event held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, I P Estate, New Delhi (India).

According to CA Nilesh S Vikamsey, President (ICAI); "In Revised Scheme, the technical competence, professional skills and professional values, ethics and attitudes expected from a CA are being redefined and upgraded in order to gear up aspiring Chartered Accountants to take on new roles."

Topics included in Revised CA Syllabus

  • Goods and Services Tax (GST)
  • Integrated as well as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting
  • Start-up finance
  • Global financial reporting standard
  • Islamic finance
  • Small and medium enterprise (SME)

GST related questions will get a weightage of 10 marks in the May 2018 exam as per the revised CA syllabus.
