CA CPT Exam - Frequently Asked Questions

CA CPT exam is conducted twice a year. It is an entry-level examination for the Chartered Accountancy course. For the year 2020, the exams for May and November sessions have been merged due to COVID-19 situation. Check out the FAQs section for answers to exam-related queries.

Question 1: When will the CA-CPT 2020 May Term exam be held?

The exam has been cancelled due to COVID-19 situation.


Question 2: May I know the June 2020 session application submission date?

As the June 2020 session is cancelled, candidates must appear for the November session exam. The application process for the same started on 5th August 2020.


Question 3: If a candidate fails to submit the CA CPT 2020 application form within the given date, will he/ she still have a chance to sit in the exam?

Yes, this is possible. In such a case, one can stick to the extended date with a late fee.


Question 4: Brief me about the exam pattern.

The exam will be held in pen and paper mode. It will be held in two sessions – morning and afternoon. There will be four sections carrying 200 marks.


Question 5: Is there any scheme of negative marking in the exam?

Yes. 1/4th marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.


Question 6: When can an applicant get enrolled for the CPC of the ICAI?

After passing the 10th standard.


Question 7: What is the minimum qualification for the CA-CPT Exam?

A candidate should have done 12th standard.


Question 8: How many times does the exam occur in a year?

The exam occurs twice a year - May/June and November/ December.


Question 9: How much is the application fee for the exam?

The application fee for the exam is INR 1,500/- in India, INR 2,200/- in Nepal and $325 in Muscat, Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi for the single group.


Question 10: What should be the aggregate score to qualify for the CA-CPT exam?

50% marks.


Question 11: What should be the minimum qualifying marks to get the certificate of Rank?

Candidates should score at least 60% marks to obtain the certificate of Rank.


Question 12: When will the examination form for November sessions made available?

The examination form will be available from 5th August 2020.


Question 13: When will be the November session exam conducted?

The November session exam will be conducted on 8th, 10th, 12th, and 14th December 2020.
