UPPSC Introduced Changes in the Direct Recruitment Process – Screening Test Marks to be Considered for Merit list Preparation
UPPSC has changed its direct recruitment process. Screening test marks will be given consideration while preparing the final merit list.
31st August 2018: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has recommended a few changes in the selection procedure of its direct recruitment process. UPPSC conducts direct recruitment process for selecting directors, assistant directors, engineers for the state government departments and AYUSH doctors/lecturers in the state medical colleges.
Major Changes in the UPPSC Direct Recruitment Process
The major change introduced by the UPPSC is considering the score of the screening test while preparing the merit list for direct recruitment. So, from now onwards:
- 50% weightage will be given to marks scored by the candidates in screening test and
- 50% weightage will be given to performance in Personality Test/Interview.
UPPSC Direct Recruitment – Previous Selection Process
Till now, the final merit list was prepared only on the basis of marks scored in the Personality test. The marks scored in the screening test were not considered for this. As per norms, the screening will be conducted only if posts are equal to or more than 50 and/or the number of applicants is more than 1000.
Discrepancies in the UPPSC Recruitment Process
Many aspirants have alleged discrepancies in the UPPSC direct recruitment process. So, a high-level committee was set up to review the recruitment process. The panel reviewed the recruitment process, consulted the changes with the officers of UPSC, and recommended the changes in the direct recruitment process. Mr Jagdish, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Secretary, approved the recommendations. The same has been forwarded to the state government for completion of formalities.
He said, “As per the decision, the screening test will cease to exist merely as a qualification exam and its marks will also be taken into account with that of interviews for direct recruitment. The amendments in the selection process will come into effect with the issue of regulation by the state government.”
UPPSC is a state –level agency authorized for conducting the state civil services examination known as Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Service (UP PCS) exam. The agency also conducts other examination such as assistant registrar exam, combined state engineering exam, UP judicial services exam, etc.
