UGC Revised Academic Calendar 2020-21 - New Academic Session to Begin from 1st Nov

On Friday (25^th September 2020), the University Grants Commission – UGC has issued a revised academic calendar and examination dates for 2020-21academic session. The released UGC revised academic calendar has been issued for undergraduate as well as postgraduate level courses offered by the universities and their affiliated colleges in the form of an official notification. The notice has been published and made available online on its official website of UGC.

As per the released UGC Notification, new academic session for 1st year students of college and universities students will commence from 1st November 2020. Along with the academic calendar, UGC has also issued revised set of guidelines and protocols that are to be followed by higher education institutions with regards to completion of admission process, especially in the current situation of the pandemic. UGC Revised Academic Calendar Released: Admission Process to be completed by The End of October 2020

The revised academic calendar and guidelines issued by UGC states that admission process for all students, including first semester students, should be completed by end of October. The notification released by commission reads “Merit/ entrance based admissions to the first-year programmes for the session 2020-21 is completed by the end of October 2020. The last date for admissions to fill up the remaining vacant seats shall be 30^th November 2020.”

As per the officials, the revised academic calendar released by the UGC has confirmed that the admission process has to be completed by 31^st October 2020 and classes for all students who fall above 1^st Year or 1^st Semester will be started from 1^st November 2020 onwards. 6 Days Classes In A Week to Make-up for Loss Time

UGC Guidelines for College and Universities also mentions for various measures to overcome or make-up for the loss of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One such important measure that has been notified by UGC is that all universities will now have to follow a 6-day week pattern in order to compensate for the loss of classes. This is being done to ensure that academic session is held in accordance with the above-given calendar and final results would be declared on time and the degrees would be awarded in time.
