Major Changes in NEET UG 2018 Syllabus: Inclusion of State Syllabus Withdrawal

Last Modified: 02 Nov 2024

The Union Government has withdrawal its decision to include the state syllabi for NEET Exam 2018. Check out CBSE’s official notification in this regard.

24 January 2018: The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that there will be no change in the syllabus of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Recently, the Union Government has announced that state syllabi will also be taken into consideration for NEET question paper preparation from this year. But, following the angry responses of students and parents towards the decision of changing syllabus just a few months before the exam, the decision was withdrawal.

As per an official in the HRD Ministry; “We will now stick to the same syllabus and there will not be any further review of any portion on which examination papers are based.”

To backup the decision and pacify the anxious students and their parents; CBSE published the following official notice on its website:

"The syllabus of NEET (UG), 2018 will be exactly same as it was for NEET (UG), 2017. There is no change in the syllabus of NEET (UG), 2018".

As per a senior member of Medical Council of India; The NEET syllabus is based on CBSE and common portions in other state syllabi. When students from across the country can write the civil service examination based on a standard syllabus, why can’t they adhere to a common syllabus for NEET?”

Meanwhile, NEET aspirants are eagerly waiting for the official notification of the NEET UG exam 2018. The official notification is scheduled to be released in the last week of January 2018 on the official website; www.cbseneet.nic.in.
