CBSE Board Exams 2020: Delhi Govt to Pay CBSE Exam Fees of Class 10, 12

The Delhi Cabinet has approved the proposal to pay the CBSE examination fee for around 3.14 lakh class 10th and 12th government school students.

On Wednesday (18th September 2019), the Delhi Cabinet has approved the government’s proposal to pay the CBSE examination fee of around 3.14 lakh government school students of Class X and XII from 2019-20. As per the officials, the proposal will cost the dispensation ₹ 57 crore a year. One must take a note that this scheme is only available for Delhi students who have enrolled themselves under Government aided schools besides the patrachar vidyalaya will be benefited by the scheme. The amount will be directly paid to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of students and they will not have to take any burden or wait for reimbursements.

A senior government official states that, "The Cabinet in its meeting on 18th Sept 2019 which was chaired by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has agreed and approved the Department of Education’s proposal wherein Delhi government will pay the CBSE examination fees of Class X and XII students of government and government-aided schools, including taken-over schools and Patrachar Vidyalayas." In further he adds, "This decision by the Cabinet will benefit around 3.14 lakh students, at a cost of around ₹ 57 crore to the government.”

Benefits of the Scheme –

The scope of the decision is to give complete subsidy to class 10th and 12th appearing students towards the Central Board of Secondary Education examination fees. With this initiative, the DoE will remit the examination fee of matriculation and intermediate level. Under the proposal, the govt. will include the fee payable towards a practical examination of the science stream and vocational subjects of Class XII.

CBSE Fee Norms 2019 -

More than this, the government had announced that it will pay the fees following fee hike by the CBSE, notified last month. As per the new law, the general category students for Class X and XII need to pay the registration fee of ₹ 1,500 for five subjects. On the other hand, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students need to pay ₹ 1,200 for five subjects.

To release the stress of the candidates, the CBSE Class 10, 12 students need to pay only ₹ 50 for the new increased fee, while the rest of the amount will be paid by the Delhi government as subsidy.
