PIB Advises to Beware of Fake NTA NEET-UG 2020 Postponement News

The Press Information Bureau urged students to beware of this fake notice of NTA, which claims postponement of NEET-UG exam.

On Wednesday 17th June 2020, a circular was spreading on social media platforms that claim the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2020, medical entrance exam has been further postponed by the officials. In this matter, the Press Information Bureau has come up with an urge for students that this is a fake notice and candidates are advised to beware of these types of messages.

According to fake news, the NEET UG 2020 is postponed once again and now held in August rather than 26th July 2020. Further the fake notice claims, it may have resulted from several students demanding the postponement of the exam due to increasing cases of coronavirus in India.

Earlier NTA warns students to avoid taking fake calls on NEET 2020 application details. As a majority of students claims that they have received calls asking for personal details and information.

NEET 2020 Exam Date

PIB request students to beware of these sorts of fake news as it mislead the information. Further PIB included, in case of any emergency, students will be notified at the official NTA NEET website only, so please go through the officials. As per now, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2020) will be held on 26th July 2020 under the guidance of the National Testing Agency. The admit card for NEET UG 2020 will be announced soon at the official NTA website.

NEET UG 2020: Number of Appearing Students

This year, a total number of 15,93,452 lakh candidates have applied for the NEET 2020. As compare to 2019, this time the number of applications are way higher than the previous year. Similarly for NEET 2020, a total of 33,357 candidates applied from J&K — a rise from 26,595 applications for NEET 2019.

NTA had earlier announced that it will conduct NEET amid social distancing norms and hence is doubling the number of exam centres. It is expected to add 3000 more exam centres to the existing ones. NEET UG 2020 which was scheduled to be conducted on 03rd May will now perform on 26th July 2020.  The exam was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
