Indira Gandhi then served as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Since then, IIMC has been offering various journalism courses. Some other popular Journalism entrance exams are – the FTII entrance exam, the Asian College of Journalism Entrance Exam, the WLCI All India Entrance Exam, etc.

IIMC Exam 2023 Pattern & Syllabus

There are two stages in the IIMC Journalism exam. In the first stage, a written test is held, in which the candidate’s General mental ability and General awareness are tested. In the second stage, group discussion and interviews are conducted. The weightage of the Written Test and Interview/ Group Discussion round is 85:15. The duration of the exam is 2 hours.

There are certain defined areas from which questions are asked in the exam, which are as follows

  1. Language ability.
  2. Analytical & Comprehension skills.
  3. Aptitude
  4. General Awareness – Social history, Social developments, recent policy, economic developments, and international development. 

In the IIMC Exam for Advertisement and PR, in addition to the areas mentioned above, some questions related to Brand awareness and recall are also added. Check below-

IIMC Exam 2023 Eligibility

Nationality – A candidate should be an Indian citizen.

Educational Qualifications

  • A candidate should have done Bachelors's in any stream from a recognized University/ College or Institution.
  • Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor's are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Age Limit

  • The General candidate should not be born earlier than August 1st, 1998. Candidates who are born on the date mentioned above and later are eligible to apply.
  • There is age relaxation for the SC/ST and OBC candidates.
  • The OBC candidates should not be born earlier than August 1st, 1995.
  • The SC/ST candidates should not be born earlier than August 1st, 1993.

IIMC Exam 2023 Application Process

Candidates can apply for the IIMC 2023 exam online once they are released. The application form can be filled out at the IIMC official website. Candidates are advised to access the application form only through the official website. The applications are to be submitted before the last date. The application form will be released in June 2023, and the last date to fill out the form will be in July 2023.

How To Apply for the IIMC Exam 2023?

  • Visit the official website of the IIMC, i.e. www.iimc.nic.in. Click the link to visit the website directly.
  • Click on the link to fill out the application form.
  • In the application form, a candidate should fill out all the required columns. The candidate should give details of his/her name, address, educational qualifications, mobile number, valid email id, etc.
  • Upload the scanned copies of the photograph and signature.
  • Pay the requisite application fee through the Payment gateway.

Without an application fee, no application form will be accepted. Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable. Separate application fees should be paid for separate application forms.

IIMC Entrance Exam Admit Card 2023

Admit Cards will be issued online in the month of July 2023. It can be downloaded online from the IIMC official website. The admit card contains the name, roll number, address of the test center and the date, and the timing of the exam. Without admit cards, no candidate will be allowed to enter the exam center.

IIMC 2023 Exam: Result Declaration

The IIMC entrance exam result is scheduled to be released in August 2023. Qualified candidates are required to appear for the interview process. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the combined score of the candidate in the written test and the group discussion/ interview. The final list of successful candidates will be declared in the month of August 2023.

After completing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Journalism, students can become Reporters, News Analysts, Senior Journalists, editors, etc. They can work with big channels like Star News, ABP News, Zee News, etc. The salary packages for Reporters and Journalists have gone up in recent years.
