The Indian Railways has come up with a golden opportunity for various aspirants who want to work in this sector. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced approximately 62,000 vacancies for various Group D posts in different zones. The posts include trackman, porter, welder, gang man, leverman, fitter, cabin man, shunter, key man, etc. The online application process is over and aspirants are looking forward to the examination schedule which was not released in the official notification.

As per the official schedule, the examination schedule for the RRB Group D 2018 exam was to be released in the month of April/May. However, a huge number of applications have been received for the vacancies and thus the board is still busy with the preparation for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). Thus, the examination schedule/exam dates are yet to be published. An interim notice has also been released in this regard on the official website of regional RRBs.

Till the official examination schedule releases, candidates should with their preparations as the competition is really tough. Those who haven’t started the exam preparation yet should start it now. Most probably, the examination will be held in the month of August/September. So, it is high-time to start the preparations. So, let’s have a look on the topics you need to study for the exam.

RRB Group D 2018 Exam Pattern

Before moving on to the syllabus, let’s have a quick look on the exam pattern. The Group D recruitment process is carried out in 3 stages:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Document Verification

The Computer Based Test consists of 100 Objective Type Questions which are to be completed in 90 minutes time duration. The questions will be from the areas – Mathematics, General Science, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness/Current Affairs. Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Square Root, Fractions, Percentages, Mensuration, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Simple and Compound Interest, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Age Calculations, Pipes & Cistern, and Calendar & Clock.

General Science

Topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences syllabus of 10th standard.

General Intelligence and Reasoning

Alphabetical and Number Series, Analogies, Mathematical Operations, Coding and Decoding, Relationships, Venn Diagram, Syllogism, Jumbling, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Similarities and Differences, Conclusions and Decisions Making, Analytical Reasoning, Directions, Classification, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions.

General Awareness on Current Affairs

Aspirants must be aware of the current happening in the areas of Science & Technology, culture, Sports, Personalities, Politics, Economics, and other subjects of importance.
