The Bar Council of India conducts All India Bar Examination (AIBE) for law graduates in the country. The exam assesses an advocate’s capability to practice law in India. It tests the analytical abilities and basic understanding of the law. The 2022 exam is the XVII edition of the exam. The Council has extended the registration date for the exam. Candidates can submit their applications tentatively in September 2022. AIBE 2022 Latest Update - The AIBE-XVII (AIBE 2022) registration process was held in November 2022. The date for the examination is 5th February 2023. 

The Exam will be conducted in both modes, Online and Offline.

AIBE 2022 Pattern & Syllabus

AIBE Exam Pattern

AIBE used to be an open-book test till 2020. However, from the year 2021, it is no longer an open-book test. Now, the candidates will not be allowed to carry any book or reference material inside the examination hall. Candidates can carry Bare Acts without notes.

Paper Structure: The exam will be held in offline mode for 3 hours 30 minutes where candidates are required to answer 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The topic-wise distribution of questions is provided in the ‘Syllabus’ section below.

Marking Scheme: Each question will be of one mark. There will be no negative marking in the exam.

AIBE 2022 Eligibility

Candidates must fulfill the eligibility norms before applying for the AIBE 2022 exam. Here are the conditions:

Age Limit

There is no age limit for the All India Bar Examination.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed a 3-year or 5-year integrated LLB program from a BCI-approved institute. Candidates must have completed graduation after 1st July 2013. There are no minimum marks criteria for the exam.

Bar Council Registration

Candidates must have enrolled as an advocate with their respective State Bar Council. It is a mandatory requirement.

AIBE 2022 Application Process

Candidates are required to fill out the application form online via the official website. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted. Candidates must fill out the application forms within the specified time.

Documents Required for Registration

Candidates must keep the following documents ready before registration:

  1. Advocate ID card (if issued by the State Bar Council)
  2. Scanned image of Enrollment Certificate
  3. Scanned images of photographs and Signature
  4. Disability Certificate, if applicable
  5. Category Certificate, if applicable

Steps for AIBE 2022 Registration

  • Visit the official website at https://allindiabarexamination.com/.
  • Click on the Registration (AIBE-XVII) link on the home page.
  • Fill out the registration form with details such as name, gender, DoB, address, educational details, select exam center, and language preference etc.
  • Upload the required documents as per specifications and ‘Save’ the details.
  • Registration Number and Password will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.
  • Check your email ID for your registration number and password.
  • Again visit the home page and now click on the ‘Login Here (AIBE-XVII)’ link.
  • Enter your registration number and password to log in.
  • The registration details will appear on the screen.
  • Click on the ‘Print Challan’ button to take a print of the bank challan.
  • Visit any SBI branch with the challan and make the fee payment. The fee payment is to be done 24 hours after the registration.
  • After successful fee payment, retain the sealed and signed copy of the challan with you.
  • After 24 hours of fee payment, login into your account.
  • Now, click on the Upload Challan & Details button.
  • Upload the scanned copy of the challan (between 10 KB and 50 KB), and enter the journal number, branch code, and date of challan.
  • Click the Submit button.
  • Now, go back and click the Application Form button.
  • The application form will appear on the screen. Check all the details carefully. If you find any error in the form, inform the bar council through email message or helpline number.

Note: Candidates are not required to send the hard copy of the application form or other documents to the Bar Council of India.

AIBE XVII 2022 Application Fee

The application fee will be accepted only through the SBI Challan. No other mode will be accepted. Category-wise fee details are as under:

AIBE 2022 Other Details

AIBE 2022 Admit Card

AIBE XVII 2022 admit card will be issued by the Bar Council of India on the official website on 5th February 2023. Admit cards will be issued only to those candidates who have submitted the application form correctly and have paid the application fee. The admit card will have details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, exam center address, exam timings, and exam-related guidelines. Candidates are required to carry the admit card along with a valid ID proof to the exam center.

AIBE XVII 2022 Result

The exam conducting authority will release the AIBE 2022 result on the official website. The result can be checked using the registration number and password. As the registration date is extended, the new exam date and result date are not announced yet. The scorecard includes the candidate’s name, roll number, enrollment number, photograph, signature, father/ husband’s name, and result status.
