UPSC IES/ISS Exam 2022 Vacancy Details

This year, the commission has come up with a total number of 62 vacancies. Out of these, 15 vacancies are for Indian Economic Service and 47 are for the Indian Statistical Service. Important Notes:

  • General English and General Studies common to both IES and ISS will be subjective types.
  • All papers for IES will be subjective type.
  • Statistics I and II will have Objective Type Questions.
  • Statistics III and IV will be the descriptive type with both short and long-type questions.
  • The question paper will be set in English only and the answers should also be given in English.

Part II - Interview

The structure of the interview will not be that of a strict cross-examination but a general conversation on his subject-related topics. The aim of the interview will be to test the mental qualities and problem-solving capabilities of the candidate.

UPSC IES/ISS Exam 2022 Eligibility

Interested applicants must take care to review the eligibility conditions of the exam before applying for the UPSC IES ISS 2022. The complete eligibility conditions of UPSC IES ISS 2022 are indicated here below.

Age Limit

Must have attained 21 years of age and not attained 30 years of age as on 01 August 2022. In other words, the candidate should be born between 2nd August 1992 and 1st August 2001. Relaxation will be provided within the upper age limit.

Educational Qualification

  • For Indian Economic Service, a candidate must have a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognised University. Candidates who are appearing/appeared (result waiting) for the above degree are also eligible to apply for the exam.
  •  
  • For Indian Statistical Service, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with any one of the subjects Statistics/Applied Statistics/Mathematical Statistics OR a master’s degree in Statistics/Applied Statistics/Mathematical Statistics from a recognised University. Candidates who are appearing/appeared (result waiting) for the above degree are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Physical Standard

The candidate’s physical fitness for the exam is decided as per the prescribed physical standards for IES ISS 2022.

UPSC IES/ISS Exam 2022 Application Process

The application process for UPSC IES/ISS recruitment 2022 will remain active from 6th to 26th April 2022. Candidates can apply for the exam through the online mode only. Here are the steps to fill out the application form:

  • Go to the official website - https://upsconline.nic.in.
  • Click on the link ‘Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC
  • Choose the exam you want to apply for. Separate applications need to be submitted for IES and ISS examinations. Please note that the application process will get completed in two parts. Start with Part-I.
  • Provide the details asked for to complete the registration process.
  • Now, click the link under Part-II registration, log in using your registration Id and password, and complete your application process.
  • Upload scanned images of your signature and photograph in the pre-defined format. It is advised to keep the scanned images ready beforehand.
  • Make the application fee payment and take a printout of the confirmation page.

It is advised to fill out the application fee well before the last date to avoid any last-minute rush.

IES/ ISS Exam Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay ₹ 200/- (Two Hundred) as an application fee using the net banking facility of SBI or using the Master/Visa/RuPay/Credit/Debit card facility. The fee can also be paid through offline mode by depositing cash at any SBI branch.

Female candidates and those belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories will be exempted from the fee payment.

Note: The last date to pay the application fee for the exam is 26th April 2022 (for payment by cash) and 27th April 2022 (for online payment).

UPSC IES/ISS Exam 2022 Other Details

UPSC IES/ISS 2022 Selection Procedure

Selection for UPSC IES ISS 2022 examination post will be done in two rounds. Those two rounds are

  • Written examination
  • Interview test

Both the rounds are qualifying in nature. Also, selection in all the stages is the provisional and final selection done only on the basis of verification of eligibility criteria. Candidates should make sure that they are fulfilling the eligible norms for admission to the examination. If on verification, the candidate is not found eligible then, the candidature of the candidate will be canceled.

UPSC IES/ISS 2022 Admit Card

The e-admit card/ admission certificate will be issued by the Commission three weeks before the commencement of the examination. Candidates have to download the e-admit card from the official website - www.upsc.gov.in using a registration ID and password. Please note that the admit cards will not be sent by post.

UPSC IES/ISS 2022 Result

As per the official notification, the result of the UPSC IES/ISS written test will be declared in August/ September 2022. After the declaration of the written test, the successful candidates are required to appear for the interview process.
