Earlier known as UP BTC, Uttar Pradesh Diploma in Elementary Education (UP D.EL.Ed) is a two-year teacher training programme for which the selection procedure is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board. The main purpose of the selection is to select eligible candidates who can do roles like teachers, assistant teachers, student counsellors and tutors. The selection is done on the basis of class 12th marks. Thus, no entrance exam is conducted.
The selected candidates are then required to acquire professional knowledge through four semesters. The UP D.El.Ed. programme aims at preparing or providing training to the teachers for classes I to VIII. The primary motive behind this is to eradicate the social and gender discrimination while fulfilling the basic need of education for each and every child.
Pariksha Niyamik Pradhikari, the BTC exam regulatory authority, is solely accountable for the UP D.El.Ed. shortlisting. As per the latest news, the application process for the exam has been postponed. It will now commence at the end of June 2019.
