
UCEED 2022 - Admit Card, Application Process, Eligibility, Pattern, Result, and Admission
The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay conducts the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) for admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs offered at IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The UCEED score is accepted by many institutes for admission to BDes courses. However, the Joint Admission Process will be held only for the participating institutes. The exam is conducted at the national level in online and offline modes where Part-A of the exam is online and Part-B is offline. After qualifying for the UCEED exam, candidates are required to apply separately for the BDes admission. Exam Pattern
The UCEED 2022 exam will be held at the allotted exam center. The exam comprises two parts - A and B. Part-A will be computer-based and Part-B will be offline wherein candidates are advised to write the answers on the provided sheets. The total duration of the exam will be three hours. Syllabus for UCEED 2022
As per the official notification, the topics given are “exhaustive and indicative of the nature of questions. However, the UCEED 2022 may not cover all the topics.”
Syllabus topics as per the UCEED 2022 official notification are mentioned below.
Part A Topics
Visualization and Spatial Ability: Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test the understanding of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships, knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts.
Observation and design sensitivity: Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events, and think critically about them. Applying attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.
Environmental and Social Awareness: General awareness of environmental factors such as population, climate, water, pollution, vegetation, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment. Awareness of social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. History of art, sculpture and literature.
Analytical and Logical Reasoning: Ability to look at information, be it qualitative or quantitative in nature, and discern patterns within the information. Ability to check for hidden bias or hidden assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Data interpretation, brainteasers, and patterns.
Language and Creativity: Ability to understand and use Standard English. Reading comprehension, knowledge of English grammar. Ability to use visual analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols. Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and to think out of the box.
Design Thinking and Problem Solving: Ability to understand complexity, identify problems, generate alternatives, evaluate options and select solutions.
Part B Topics
Drawing: Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, perspective, proportion, and shading.
UCEED 2022 Eligibility
UCEED eligibility criteria are as under:
Age Limit
- Those belonging to OPEN/ EWS/ OBC-NCL categories must be born on or after 1st October 1997.
- Those belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD categories must be born on or after 1st October 1992.
Educational Qualification
- Must have passed class XII or equivalent in all subjects in 2021 OR must be appearing for the final exam in 2022 for the first time. Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible.
After Qualifying UCEED
- After qualifying for the UCEED exam, candidates from the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects are eligible for admission to IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur.
- Those from other streams are eligible for admission to IIT Bombay and IIITDM Jabalpur only.
UCEED 2022 Application Process
Applications for UCEED 2022 will be accepted only through the online mode via the official website. The application forms were released on 9th September 2021 and will remain available till 16th November 2021. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.
Documents to be Uploaded
Following documents are to be uploaded while filling the UCEED application form. The format for the certificates is provided in the official notification.
- Scanned image of recent coloured passport size photograph in .jpg format. The photograph must be taken within the last six months.
- Scanned images of candidate’s signature on a white paper in .jpg format.
- Scanned image of qualifying exam certificate in.pdf format. For those who will be appearing in the qualifying exam in 2022, a certificate from the school principal must be uploaded in .pdf format. The format of the certificate is provided in the official notification.
- Category certificate (format given in official notification)
- PwD certificate (format given in official notification)
- Request letter by PwD category candidate who needs a scribe/ compensatory time
- Scanned images of supporting documents for change in name (marriage certificate or passport)
Steps for UCEED 2022 Application Submission
- Visit the official website at http://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/2022/.
- Click the ‘Registration’ button on the home page.
- Now, click the ‘Registration Portal’ button and then click the ‘Register’ button.
- Provide your email ID and click the ‘Register’ button.
- After registration, the application number will be generated.
- Login again using the application number and password.
- Now, complete the application form with details related to educational qualification, address, exam city choices, etc.
- Upload the required documents.
- Make the application fee payment.
- After successful fee payment, take a print of the confirmation page.

Candidates are required to select three cities of their choice while filling the application form.
UCEED 2022 Admit Card
- The UCEED admit card will be available on the official website from 12th January 2022 onwards.
- UCEED 2022 admit card will be issued only for those who have successfully submitted their application forms.
- Candidates can download the admit card from the official website using their login credentials.
- The admit card will have details such as the candidate’s name, registration ID, roll number, date of birth, category, photograph, signature, exam schedule, exam centre details, and instructions.
- No candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without the admit card.
UCEED 2022 Answer Key
- The provisional answer key for UCEED 2022 will be released on 25th January 2022.
- Candidates can submit their objections (if any) against the answer key till 27th January 2022.
- The objections will be considered by the UCI committee and the final answer key will be released thereafter.
UCEED 2022 Result
- UCEED 2022 results will be released on 10th March on the official website.
- Candidates can download the scorecards from 14th March onwards using their login details.
- No hard copy of the scorecard will be sent by post to any candidate.
- Shortlisted candidates will also get merit rank.
- The rank list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained by the candidate in UCEED 2022.

Question 3: How much compensatory time will be provided to PwD category candidates?
Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in Part-A and 10 minutes in Part-B will be given.
Question 4: What is the maximum limit to appear for the UCEED exam?
The maximum limit to appear for the exam is two times (in consecutive years).
Question 5: What will be the validity of the UCEED 2022 score?
The score will remain valid only for the current academic year i.e. 2022-23.
