SBI SO Exam 2018 Pattern & Syllabus

The exam pattern of State Bank of India Specialist Officer varies too.

Selection Process for Deputy Manager: The candidates will be sent for the written test, followed by face to face interview. The written test will be done in three subjects – Reasoning, English Language and Professional Knowledge. Reasoning will have 70 questions carrying 70 marks, whereas the English Language and Professional Knowledge subjects will have 50 questions each (carrying 50 and 100 marks respectively). The total duration of the exam will be 135 minutes.

The selection process of Special Management Executive (Regular) and Deputy General Manager (Law) involves shortlisting and interview. The shortlisting will be done on the basis of qualification, experience, suitability and other important details of the candidates. The candidates will be awarded marks out of 50. On the basis of that, they will be called for the direct interview. The State Bank will select suitable candidates from the top merit rank list from each category.

SBI SO Exam 2018 Eligibility

The eligibility criterion varies from posts to posts. An aspirant must meet the eligibility criteria for positions that he is applying for. Let’s know eligibility of some of the Specialist Officer posts -

Nationality –

  • The candidates should be Indian residents

Eligibility Criteria Special Management Executive (Regular) –

  • Educational Qualification: Must have done 2 years PGD in Finance or CA/ICWA/ACS/MBA in Finance
  • The duration of the full-time course should not be less than 2 years
  • Make sure the education centre is approved by AICTE or Government bodies
  • SBI will not entertain persons with the course through correspondence or part-time from any unrecognised institute
  • Post Qualification Experience: At least 5 years work experience as an Executive in Management/Supervisory role a) in a Scheduled Commercial Bank/ Associate or Subsidiary of a Scheduled Commercial Bank; b) in a Public Sector or listed Financial Institution/ Company.
  • Age Limit: The applicant should be between 30-40 years of age.

Eligibility Criteria for Deputy General Manager (Law, Contract) -

  • Educational Qualification: Should hold a Degree in Law (3 years or 5 years) from a recognised varsity
  • Post Qualification Experience: Advocate with the Bar Council with minimum 17 years of experience as Law Officer in the Legal Department of Scheduled Commercial Banks OR Asset Reconstruction Company OR Financial Institutions OR combined experience as Law Officer in the Legal Department of Scheduled Commercial Bank and Asset Reconstruction Company and has extensive experience in Recovery & Rehabilitation
  • Age Limit: The minimum age should be 42 years and the maximum age should be 52 years

Eligibility Criteria for Deputy General Manager (Law, Regular) -

  • Educational Qualification: The applicant must hold a Degree in Law (PG preferable) (3 years/5 years) from a well-known university
  • Post Qualification Experience: Advocate with the Bar Council with minimum 17 years of experience as Law Officer in the Legal Department of Scheduled Commercial Banks or in Scheduled Commercial Banks holding Assistant General Manager (Law) post
  • The candidates should have minimum 3 years of experience as an advocate with the Bar Council
  • Age Limit: Between 42 years and 52 years

Eligibility Criteria for Deputy Manager (Law, Regular) -

  • Educational Qualification: The applicant must hold a Degree in Law (PG preferable) (3 years/5 years) from a well-known university
  • Post Qualification Experience: He must have 4 years of experience as Law Officer or Advocate in the Legal Department of Scheduled Commercial Banks
  • He must be enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council
  • Age Limit: Between 25 years and 35 years

State Bank of India invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for Specialist Cadre Officers posts. Candidates can apply by visiting the authorised website https://www.sbi.co.in/careers or https://bank.sbi/careers.

How to Apply for SBI Special Officer Exam -

  • Visit the official website of State bank of India and register yourself by providing the basic details such as email ID, the name of the candidate, mobile number, etc.
  • Use the system-generated log in credentials and fill the online application form
  • Fill the form carefully and upload the scanned photograph (20kb-50kb) and signature (JPEG) with the ideal size and format
  • Pay the application fee using the credit card, debit card, internet banking, etc.
  • Click on the submit button once it is filled-in completely
  • After the application is submitted successfully, take a printout of the same for future reference

Note: If an applicant fails to submit the form in one go, he can do it later by saving the page. By doing this, he gets a system generated provisional registration number and password. The applicant must keep the registration number and password safe, edit the particulars and submit next time. This act of saving information and filling the application can be done up to 3 times.

After submitting the online application form successfully, candidates can expect the SBI SO admit card 2018 on their email. The Bank will not send any hard copy. Or else, visit the official website, use the login credentials and download the call letter.

SBI SO 2018 Important Points & General Information -

  • The application for SBI SO exam can only be filled online.
  • The registration will be considered valid only after the payment of fee via online mode.
  • All the documents (experience, qualification, age, caste, etc.) should be correct. Failing to provide the correct details will result in the rejection of the candidature.
  • If an applicant is called for the interview but found his/her eligibility unsatisfactory, he/she won’t be entertained for the interview. The reimbursement of their travelling expenses will not be entitled.
  • If two or more candidates secure same marks as the cut-off marks, such applicants will be ranked as per their age in the descending order.
