SSC CHSL Answer Key - Steps to Download, Raising Objections, Final Answer Key

The SSC CHSL answer key is released by the Staff Selection Commission on the regional websites of SSC. Candidates can download the answer keys using their registration ID and password. The SSC CHSL answer key is released only for the Computer Based Test. The SSC CHSL answer key is of two types. Let’s know more about the answer key, steps to download, etc. in the article ahead.

SSC CHSL Answer Key Types

The SSC CHSL answer key is of two types:

  • Provisional Answer Key
  • Final Answer Key

The provisional answer key is also known as the tentative answer key. It is released after the exam is over and challenges are invited from the candidates against the provisional answer key. Generally, a time of two or three days is given for submitting the objections. These challenges are then reviewed and if found correct, they are updated in the final answer key.

The final answer key is the one which is released after the objections are considered. It is the answer key considered for preparation of the result. Candidates cannot raise any objections against the final answer key. Any such requests are not entertained by the Commission.

Both the answer keys are uploaded at the official website.

SSC CHSL 2020 - Answer Key Dates

The provisional answer key is generally released two to three weeks after the exam. The exact date for the SSC CHSL 2020 answer key release will be released once the official notification is released.

How to Download SSC CHSL Answer Key?

The answer key is uploaded at the official website. Follow the steps provided below to download the provisional answer key:

  • Visit the respective SSC regional website.
  • Click on the CHSL answer key link.
  • The answer key PDF will open.
  • Tally the answers with your response sheet and question papers. The question paper and response sheet of the candidates are also uploaded along with the provisional answer key.

Option to challenge the answer key is also provided for the provisional answer key. The steps for challenging the provisional answer key are provided below.

How to Challenge the SSC CHSL Provisional Answer Key?

The facility to challenge the provisional answer key is provided to the candidates. For each challenge raised against the answer key, candidates are required to pay ₹ 100/- through the online mode only. The commission will scrutinize the representations before uploading the final answer key. After the release of the final answer key, no representations will be considered. Here are the steps for challenging the provisional answer key:

  • Visit the official SSC website at -
  • Log-in using your registration ID and password.
  • Click on the link for challenging the answer key.
  • Select the answer key ID which you want to challenge. Enter the correct response and provide an explanation for in support of your answer.
  • Make the payment and submit your objection.

You can select all the answer IDs at once and also make payment at once.

SSC CHSL Final Answer Key

The objections raised by the candidates are evaluated by the commission and the final answer key is uploaded at the official website after updates (if any). The result of the exam is prepared based on the final answer key. No objections will be accepted against the final answer key.

SSC CHSL Unofficial Answer Key

Apart from the provisional and final answer key, an unofficial answer key is also released for the CHSL exam. The unofficial answer key is the one released by coaching institutes. This answer key is prepared by the subject experts and are pretty reliable. Candidates can estimate their scores based on these answer keys. However, only the official answer key will be considered for result preparation. The unofficial answer key can be accessed through the official websites of various coaching institutes and educational portals.


The SSC CHSL result is uploaded at the official website. The result for each tier is released separately. The candidates who qualify a Tier become eligible for the subsequent Tier. The result can be checked using the log-in ID and password. The final merit list is prepared after the skill test. The merit list will be uploaded at the official website containing the name and roll numbers of the selected candidates.


The CHSL exam is conducted by SSC every year for recruitment of Lower Division Clerk, Court Clerk, Postal Assistants, Sorting Assistants, and Data Entry Operator posts in various departments or ministries under the Government of India. The exam is conducted in different shifts and separate answer keys are released for all the shifts.
