In recent years Hotel Management Courses have become popular. With good career opportunity in India and abroad, it has become one of the most sought after career for students. The Ministry of Tourism in order to tap the boom in the hospitality sector is promoting courses in hospitality sector. Even 5 star hotels have started to offer Hotel management courses for students.

Hotel management and Catering technology courses are offered by many colleges in India. A student can pursue both Undergraduate and Graduate courses in hotel management. But a student should prefer colleges which are approved by AICTE/ UGC/ NCHMCT. After doing Hotel management one can become a Chef, Hotel Manager, Food and Beverage manager etc.

Every year many entrance exams for Hotel management is conducted on All India level, State level and Common Entrance exams. Some of the reputed Common entrance exams are – NCHMCT, AIMA UGAT, AIHMCT WAT, BIT Meshra Hotel Management, BVP CET etc.

NCHMCT (National Council Hotel Management and Catering Technology) JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) is one of the most popular Hotel management entrance exam conducted on All India level. The exams score is accepted by 21 central institutes, 19 state level institutes, 13 Private Hotel management colleges and one Public Sector Undertakings. 

Eligibility for NCHMCT JEE Exam

Candidate must have following criteria of eligibility –

Educational Qualification –

  • The candidate should have passed 12th standard from any recognized Central or State Board / University like CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) or State Board of Secondary Education.
  • Two year of Pre- University Examination conducted by Board or University.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or abroad which is equivalent to 10+2 level and is recognized by Association of Indian Universities.
  • A candidate should have passed the 12th standard with English as one of the five subject.

Age Limit –

  • The General or OBC candidate should have a age limit of 22 years on July 1st, 2017. It means the candidate should have been born on or after July1, 1995.
  • In the case of Scheduled Tribe/ Scheduled Caste the upper age limit is 25 years age.
  • For Physically Disabled persons the age limit will be applicable as per the category to which he belongs.

Physical Fitness

The candidates are required to submit a certificate of physical fitness which should be duly signed by the registered medical practitioner at the time of admission.

NCHMCT JEE Exam Admission Process

Candidate can get the application form either online or from any institute which is affiliated to the NCHMCT.

  • Candidate can apply online by visiting the official website of the NCHMCT.
  • While filling the application form candidates are instructed to –
  • Fill the Application form only in English.
  • Candidate should write his name in capital letters of English.
  • Candidate should write the name in capital letters as mentioned in the class 10th certificate.
  • Candidate should enter his date of birth as per the English calendar only.
  • Candidate should paste his photograph on the application form. It should not be of earlier than 3 months.
  • Do not make any mistake while filling the application form as candidate will not be given any opportunity to correct the error.
  • Candidates after filling their application form can submit it either by hand at the NCHMCT Noida office or they can also send it by Registered Post/ Speed Post at -

  • It is important that candidate should pay the application fee along with the application form. Without application fee form will not be accepted by the commission.

Scheme of marking

1 mark will be given for each correct answer.

Negative marking

0.25 mark will be deducted for every in correct answer.

Duration of exam

3 hours.

System of graded marking – In the question paper, questions pertaining to the Aptitude for service sector, candidates will be awarded graded marks. It means the most fitting answer will be given 1 marks, there after the second most fitting answer will be given 0.75 marks and the third most fitting response will be given 0.50 marks and for the least fitting answer 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Admit Card NCHMCT JEE Admit Card

Candidate can download their Admit Card from the official website of the NCHMCT JEE by April. By entering their details like name, address and date of birth candidate can download their admit card. It should be noted that candidate should keep two copies of the admit card at the centre of examination. One of the copy of the admit card should be duly signed by the Gazette officer which should be submitted with the Invigilator for his signature. This admit card which is being signed by the Invigilator should be produced by the candidate before the counselling authority during the admission process. Another copy of the admit card would be submitted at the centre of the examination.

Result Declaration & Counselling

Candidates are see their results online by entering their name and date of birth. They can download their result online. All India merit list is prepared as per the score of candidate in the written examination of the NCHMCT JEE.

The successful candidates in the exams are called for counselling and allotment of seats. On the basis of marks scored by candidate and his choice for the college and course, seat is allotted to them.

The General and OBC candidates are charged Rs.900 application fee for the offline mode and Rs.800 for online mode. The SC/ ST /PwD candidates are charged Rs. 450 for offline mode and Rs.400 for online mode.

Yes seats are reserved for certain category of candidates as per the government rules and regulations. For OBC candidates 27% seats are reserved, whereas for the SC and ST candidates 15% and 7.5 % seats are reserved.
