To fill online NATA 2020 application form, the Council of Architecture has once again extended the deadline of the application form window 12th August to 16th August 2020. The National Aptitude Test in Architecture is a national-level exam conducted by theCouncil of Architecture for admission to 5 years B.Arch Degree Programme. CoA has been organising the NATA exam since 2006, keeping the Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations, 1983, of the Gazette of India. Students appearing in NATA 2020 need not attempt multiple aptitude tests to get into private and government-aided institutes or universities to pursue Bachelor of Architecture. From this year onwards, the national-level architecture exam will be held in two parts – Part A and Part B.

Highlighted Changes in NATA 2020

  • NATA 2020 will be held twice in a year – April and July.
  • The duration of the exam would be 180 minutes – 1 hour for Aptitude (previously, 90 minutes) and 2 hours for Drawing (previously, 90 minutes).
  • CoA will conduct a national-level counselling for admission to various architecture programmes.
  • Students of Arts Stream (Humanities) can apply for the exam. However, they must have qualified additional exams (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 50% marks) by CBSE.

NATA 2020 Latest Notification -

The Council of Architecture (CoA) is going to announce the NATA 2020 result for second test at the official website. To check their results, candidates will be required to log in to the official website of NATA 2020 by submitting their registered credentials to log in. NATA 2020 phase -1 exam held on 29th August whereas the phase-2 exam was conducted on 12th September 2020.

Earlier, the CoA has decided to relax the eligibility criteria for admission to B.Arch courses offered through NATA and JEE Main qualified candidates. According to the new eligibility criteria, students with a 10+3 diploma in Mathematics are also eligible to apply for the B.Arch course.

NATA Exam 2020 Pattern & Syllabus

Candidates appearing in the upcoming exam must be well-versed in NATA exam pattern 2020. The Council will organise the exam in two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A will basically have MCQs that need to be answered online. The duration of Part A test is 1 hour. Part B is an offline mode examination where applicants will have to answer on an A4-size drawing sheet. The duration of Part A test is 2 hours. The medium of the NATA 2020 exam is English.

Part-B (Drawing Test) - Revised Syllabus

As per the recent notification released on 17th July 2020, the revised syllabus for Part-B (Drawing Test) is as under:

  • Understanding the important visual principles in a composition (2D OR 3D) such as balance, rhythm, direction, hierarchy, etc.
  • Understanding geometry and the ability to visualize the shape and solve geometrical puzzles to test spatial intelligence
  • Understanding colour theory and the various terminologies to test colour scheme awareness and knowledge
  • Visual system interpretation and perception to test graphical similarities and other properties Ability to understand the spatial relationship between objects, and to visualize images and scenarios
  • Tests for cognitive ability: perception, attention, recognition, memory etc.

NATA Exam 2020 Eligibility

  • Should have passed 12th with 50% marks in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics
  • Should have scored 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level exam
  • Candidates appearing in the 12th exam with PCM subjects can also provisionally give the test

New Changes Made:

  • Students with a 10+3 diploma in Mathematics can apply for the first year B.Arch course for the 2020 session.
  • The relaxation in the B.Arch Admission eligibility criteria has been made as a onetime exception to the rule, taking into account the special circumstances that have emerged in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the official Information Bulletin, “QUALIFYING IN NATA-2019 DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A RIGHT/ GUARANTEE IN FAVOUR OF THE CANDIDATE FOR  HIS/ HER  ADMISSION  TO  ANY  ARCHITECTURE  COURSE  UNLESS  HE/ SHE  HAS  FULFILLED  ALL  THE PRESCRIBED REQUIREMENTS AS SPECIFIED BY RESPECTIVE COUNSELLING AND ADMISSION AUTHORITIES.” It further adds, “Candidates may note that no direct lateral admission is allowed at any other year/ stage of B.Arch. course based on any qualification.”


NATA Exam 2020 Application Process

The application process for the NATA 2020 second exam has been started now. Candidates can fill and submit the online application form at the official website till 04th September 2020. Candidates who have applied for NATA exam have an opportunity to register themselves for the first and second test. However, “appearing in the second test is not mandatory and is purely at the discretion of the applicants.” If the candidates appear in both the tests, they must note that the Authority will issue the scorecard, ‘containing the best of two test’s composite marks.’

Application Procedure of NATA 2020 –

The NATA application 2020 will be filled in online mode at the website – www.nata.in. Applicants need to select the link ‘Online Application NATA-2020’ and get directed to the application form filling page. All fields marked with * ‘must be filled up as they are mandatory, otherwise, the application will not get submitted.’ The entire application procedure of NATA 2020 is divided into three steps –

  • Filling of Personal Details
  • Document Uploading (Photograph Size – 4 kb to 100 kb and signature size – 1 kb to 30 kb)
  • Fee Payment

 After the submission of the application form, the candidates must take a print of the Confirmation Page. This is the proof of Registration.

CoA has activated the correction facility for NATA 2020 potential candidates. Those who want to make some changes in their application form can participate in the NATA 2020 correction process through these following steps:

  • Open the official link of NATA at nata.in.
  • On the available home page, click on the link, which says “NATA 2020 Correction”.
  • Click on the link and complete the login procedure.
  • Once it is done, make the changes in the application form and click on submit.
  • Keep a hard copy of the same for further references.

NATA 2020 Admit Card –

Candidates who have successfully submitted the application form will be entitled to receive the NATA 2020 admit card for the second test. They have to download the soft copy of the hall tickets of NATA 2020 from the official website and appear in the test with a printed hard copy of the same at the concerned exam centre. Also, carry one original photo ID card – driving license/ Aadhaar card, pan card, voter ID, etc.

To make the process of download the NATA entrance exam admit cards easier for the candidates, following are the steps which students cam use.
