NATA Exam

The Council of Architecture conducts the National Aptitude Test in Architecture for admission to 5 years B.Arch. Degree Programme. CoA has been organising the NATA exam since 2006, keeping the Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations, 1983, of the Gazette of India. Students appearing in NATA 2019 need not attempt multiple aptitude tests to get into private and government-aided institutes or universities to pursue Bachelor of Architecture. From this year onwards, the national-level architecture exam will be held in two parts – Part A and Part B.

Changes Brought in NATA 2019

  • NATA 2019 will be held twice in a year – April and July.
  • The duration of the exam would be 180 minutes – 1 hour for Aptitude (previously, 90 minutes) and 2 hours for Drawing (previously, 90 minutes).
  • CoA will conduct a national-level counselling for admission to various architecture programmes.
  • Students of Arts Stream (Humanities) can apply for the exam. However, they must have qualified additional exams (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 50% marks) by CBSE.

NATA 2019 Latest Notification  The Council of Architecture will start the NATA 2019 application process online from 24th January onwards. Candidates must access the official website of NATA and fill in the online application before the last date (11th March 2019). The NATA exam 2019 will be conducted on 14th April. The registration process for the July session will begin on 24th January. The last date to submit the application form is 12th June 2019.

NATA Exam 2019 Pattern & Syllabus

Candidates appearing in the upcoming exam must be well-versed in NATA exam pattern 2019. The Council will organise the exam in two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A will basically have MCQs that need to be answered online. The duration of Part A test is 1 hour. Part B is an offline mode examination where applicants will have to answer on an A4-size drawing sheet. The duration of Part A test is 2 hours. The medium of the NATA 2019 exam is English.

NATA Exam 2019 Eligibility

  • Should have passed 12th with 50% marks in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics
  • Should have scored 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level exam
  • Candidates appearing in the 12th exam with PCM subjects can also provisionally give the test

As per the official Information Bulletin, “QUALIFYING IN NATA-2019 DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A RIGHT/ GUARANTEE IN FAVOUR OF THE CANDIDATE FOR  HIS/ HER  ADMISSION  TO  ANY  ARCHITECTURE  COURSE  UNLESS  HE/ SHE  HAS  FULFILLED  ALL  THE PRESCRIBED REQUIREMENTS AS SPECIFIED BY RESPECTIVE COUNSELLING AND ADMISSION AUTHORITIES.” It further adds, “Candidates may note that no direct lateral admission is allowed at any other year/ stage of B.Arch. course based on any qualification.”

Reservations –

The Official Website of National Aptitude Test in Architecture says, “Reservation is a prerogative of the admission/ counselling authority and does not fall under the purview of this examination.”


NATA Exam 2019 Application Process

While registering for the NATA examination 2019, applicants have choices to register themselves for the first and second test, which will be conducted in April and July respectively. However, “appearing in the second test is not mandatory and is purely at the discretion of the applicants.” If the candidates appear in both the tests, they must note that the Authority will issue the scorecard, ‘containing the best of two test’s composite marks.

Application Procedure of NATA 2019 –

The NATA application 2019 will be filled in online mode at the website – www.nata.in. Applicants need to select the link ‘Online Application NATA-2019’ and get directed to the application form filling page. All fields marked with * ‘must be filled up as they are mandatory, otherwise, the application will not get submitted.’ The entire application procedure of NATA 2019 is divided into three steps –

  • Filling of Personal Details
  • Document Uploading (Photograph Size – 4 kb to 100 kb and signature size – 1 kb to 30 kb)
  • Fee Payment

 After the submission of the application form, the candidates must take a print of the Confirmation Page. This is the proof of Registration.

NATA 2019 Admit Card –

Candidates who have successfully submitted the application form will be entitled to receive the NATA 2019 admit card. They have to download the soft copy of the hall tickets of NATA 2019 from the official website and appear in the test with a printed hard copy of the same at the concerned exam centre. Also, carry one original photo ID card – driving license/ Aadhaar card, pan card, voter ID, etc.

For the April session, the admit card will be released on 1st April 2019. For the second examination, the Council will issue the NATA admit card 2019 on 24th June. The call latter of NATA 2019 will contain details such as the name of the exam, examination centre, time and date of the exam and roll number.

NATA Answer Key 2019 –

Use the NATA 2019 answer key and response sheet to calculate the probable NATA score. The answer key and response sheet of NATA 2019 will be updated on the official website after the completion of the exam. The answer sheet can be downloaded by using Application Number, Date of Birth and Password.

NATA 2019 Result –

After the exam, the conducting Authority will release the result online. The NATA 2019 result will be declared on 3rd May for April Examination. The result of NATA 2019 July examination will be released on 21st July.

To qualify the NATA exam 2019, candidates should score at least 25% marks in Drawing and 25% marks in MCQ.
