JNVST - Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test is conducted for admission to centrally-run Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in classes VI and IX. JNVs are co-educational residential schools fully financed and administered by the Government of India. The education in these schools is free, including board & lodging, uniforms, and textbooks. JNVST 2023 Latest Update:

  • JNVST 2023 Class 6th exam date will be held on 29th April 2023 in all the states and UTs.
  • JNVST 2023 exam for class 9th is scheduled to be held on 11th February 2023 in all the states and UTs.

All COVID-19 protocols will be followed during the exam, which include:

  • Students, teachers, and invigilators will have to wear face masks.
  • Use sanitizers.
  • Undergo thermal screening.
  • Social distancing will be practiced in the sitting arrangement.

JNVST Exam 2023 Pattern & Syllabus

Exam Pattern

JNVST is a Pen and Paper-based Test that is conducted in English, Hindi, and the regional language of each state. The exam comprises three sections. Section-wise distribution of questions and marks is provided below.

Syllabus

Mental Ability

The sections will have 10 parts wherein 4 questions will be asked in each part. The questions will be based on figures and diagrams for assessing the general mental ability of the candidates.

Arithmetic Test

Number and numeric system, Four fundamental operations on the whole number, Fractional number and four fundamental operations, Factors and multiples including their properties, LCM and HCF of numbers, Decimals and fundamental operations, Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa, Measurement of length, mass, capacity, time, money, etc., Distance, Time and Speed, Approximation of expression, Simplification of Numerical Expressions, Percentage and its applications, Simple interest,  Profit and Loss, Perimeter, Area and Volume.

Language Test

Passage-type questions will be asked to test the reading comprehension skills of the candidates.

JNVST Exam 2023 Eligibility

Candidates must meet the eligibility conditions set by the exam conducting authority to be eligible for admission to the JNVs. Here are the eligibility conditions:

Age Limit

Students must be born between 1st May 2010 and 30th April 2014 (inclusive dates).

Other Conditions

  • Candidates must be studying in class V for the whole academic session 2022-23 in a government/ government-aided school.
  • Only candidates from districts where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is open are eligible to apply.

Those claiming admission under the rural quota must have studied classes III, IV, and V in full-time mode from a government/ government-aided/recognized school located in a rural area.

JNVST Exam 2023 Application Process

The application process for JNVST is online. Registration is FREE of COST. Candidates are advised to visit the official website to complete the application process. Also, do check the eligibility conditions before applying for the exam. Here is the detailed procedure.

Documents to be Uploaded

  • Candidate’s Photograph
  • Signature of the Candidate and Parent/ Guardian

The files must be in .jpg format, and the size of the files must be between 10KB to 100 KB.

Registration/ Application Procedure

  • Visit the official website https://navodaya.gov.in/.
  • Click on ‘JNVST Class VI Admission’ under the ‘Admission’ menu.
  • Now click on the ‘Click Here to Apply Online’ option.
  • Click the ‘Click here to Class VI Registration’ option.
  • Follow the steps for registration and form filling.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Check all the details carefully and submit the application to complete the registration process.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for the JNVST exam. The registration process is free.

If you are finding it difficult to fill out the online application form, you can visit your nearest JNV. Every JNV has a help desk that helps candidates/ parents upload the application form. Visit the Help desk along with the candidate and the required documents for registration.

JNVST Exam 2023 Other Details

JNVST 2023 Admit Card

JNVST 2023 admit cards are available on the official website. Candidates can download the same using their registration number and date of birth. The admit card contains the candidate's personal details, exam date, exam center address, and other instructions. Candidates must carry a clear printout of the admit card along with a valid ID proof to the examination center.

JNVST 2023 Result

The JNVST 2023 result date has not been announced yet. The result will be released online through the official website in the form of a merit list. The merit list comprises roll numbers of the qualified candidates. Candidates can find their roll number in the list to check their results. The merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test. The result will also be available at the offices of the following:

  • Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya
  • District Education Officer,
  • District Magistrate,
  • Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of the region

Selected candidates will also be informed through SMS by the Principal of the concerned JNV. The SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number. A speed post will also be sent to the qualified candidate in this regard.

Individual marks of the candidates will not be communicated.

  • Proofs of eligibility conditions
  • A certificate as proof of studying in a rituals area (for seeking rural quota)
