IGRUA Exam

If you have had a dream since your childhood to become a pilot and fly high in the sky then it's an opportunity to get admission in one of the India's premier flying Institute IGRUA ( Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Academy).

The Academy conducts the  IGRUA CPL ( Commercial Pilot Licence) Entrance Exam every year in the month of May for taking admission of students in the course of commercial pilot licence.

The IGRUA offers commercial pilot licence course ab initio. To the benefit of passing candidates it certifies them with commercial pilot licence in multi engine aircraft, multi engine operation and instrument rating. This enables passing candidate to get job in international airlines and domestic airlines, competitively.

The IGRUA Entrance Exam consists of three stages. In the first stage there is written test. Those candidates who qualify the written test are called for Interview and Pilot Aptitude Test.

Eligibility for IGRUA Exam

For general candidates

  • A candidate should have passed class 12th in science stream with subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • A candidate should have taken English as one language subject in the class 12th.
  • A candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 55% marks to become eligible for the exam.
  • A candidate​ should not be of less than 17 years of age during joining.

For SC or ST or OBC candidates

  • A candidate should have passed class 12th in science stream with subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • English should have been one of the language subject in the class 12th.
  • A candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 50% marks to become eligible for the exam.
  • A candidate should not be less than 17 years of age during his joining.

Selection Stages in the IGRUA Entrance Exam

There are three stages in the IGRUA Entrance Exam. In the first stage written exam is conducted. Those candidates who qualify the written exam are called for personal interview and thereafter to take up the Pilot Aptitude Test.

  1. Written test
  2. Interview round
  3. Pilot Aptitude Test

1 - The cut off marks in the written test for the reserved category of candidates is less than 5% compared to the general category candidate.

2 - Those candidates who qualify the written test are called for the interview round.

During interview a candidate is required to furnish the original copies of the following documents-

  • Print copy of the admit card downloaded​ from the official website of the IGRUA.
  • Age proof through class 10th certificate.
  • Marksheet of class 10th.
  • Marksheet of class 12th.
  • Caste certificate by the reserved category candidate.
  • OBC candidate should produce certificate of non creamy layer status in their support.

3 - Those candidates who are selected in the interview are called for the Pilot Aptitude Test or Psychometric test. It should be noted that in this stage of the entrance exam no relaxation in the marks will be given to the candidates belonging to the reserved category. Candidates who qualify this stage of the exam are declared finally selected for the course.

4 - All selected candidates are required to deposit commitment money of Rs. 2 Lacs with the college by July 10 th, 2017 to reserve their seats.


IGRUA Exam Admission Process

  • Those applicants who want to appear for the exam can apply for it online.
  • They should visit the official portal of the IGRUA.
  • Here they should click on the link www.igrua.gov.in. Further they would be directed to the IGRUA entrance exam 2017 page.
  • On the exam page candidate should first of all open the PDF file of  ‘How to apply’ section. Before filling the application form candidates are advised to first of all read all the instructions of filling the application form carefully. And only after that they should take up to fill the application form.
  • In the application form they should fill all the necessary columns.
  • Along with the application form candidates are also required to upload the scanned copies of their signature, passport size photograph, address proof and educational qualification certificates.
  • After filling the application form completely, a candidate should also pay the application fee. It should be noted that without making the payment of application fee the application form would not be accepted. It would be rejected by the exam conducting authority.

Admit Card

Students can get their admit card online. They can download their admit card from the official website of the IGRUA . The admit card contains the information about the centre of examination and schedule of the exam. Along with the date of Written test the date of Interview and Pilot Aptitude Test are also mentioned in the admit card. However, only when the student qualifies the written test he is called for the interview and Pilot Aptitude Test. It should be noted that candidate should keep the print copy of their admit card till the process of the examination gets complete as during interview candidates are required to furnish the print copy of their admit card.

Fee structure

  • The overall fee of the study is 38 lacs. It is required to be paid by candidates in 4 installments.
  • An additional amount of 1.5 lacs is required for uniform, study materials and similar other expenses.
  • Service Tax is applicable.
